Pregnant and anxious

Hi all, I think I'm just posting for some support. I'm pregnant again, about 4.5 weeks, and I'm trying my best to stay sane.

Previously had two losses but then went onto have a DS who is a toddler. I had severe anxiety with my pregnancy with him due to the previous losses.

I've been so relieved to feel like myself again since he's been born, and regain my sanity.

Just need to get through the next few weeks (or maybe just until I can have a private scan!).

I've had barely any symptoms, I actually had more symptoms before my period was due. I feel pretty good now!

Anyone got any tips, mantras, distractions??

Hello! Congratulations on your pregnancy! Thanks so much for the reassurance about symptoms. I remember I had such sore boobs with my last pregnancy, now they're absolutely fine! I know symptoms can be different and they've been through a year of breast feeding so are pretty toughened up now. It's so weird how I want to feel awful for reassurance.
Always happy to chat and compare notes. Glad you're not suffering with too many symptoms at the moment ☺️

Hello! 5wks with my 2nd here. It is nerve-wracking in these early days isn't it as there is just no way of knowing how things are progressing etc. I'm just trying to trust the process and focus on eating healthily and getting some exercise each day etc. I'm a bit nerdy and quite like watching YouTube videos of foetal development etc - there are tons of different ones for each week of pregnancy. I try and celebrate where little bean is at right now and enjoy it for what it is. I'd be devastated by a loss but I want to try and enjoy being excited too.

I think you just have to be a bit fatalistic sometimes and trust that if this is the right baby, all will progress well. I can only imagine though how much harder that is when you've experienced a previous loss. Go easy on yourself and allow yourself to process whatever feelings come up.

There is a thread for expectant November mummies that you would be very welcome on (and anyone else at a similar stage of course!)

Also to say, with my first, sore boobs were my first symptom (before I even took a test!) And I've not had them at all this time which did bother me a bit but like you, I presumed it was due to the fact they had almost 2 years of bf! I guess they're pretty much ready to go this time! I've also looked back in my pregnancy journal from last time and my other symptoms (tiredness and nausea) started from 6wks+...

It's so hard not to compare - especially with your own previous pregnancy! But they do say each one is different so I'm trying to trust that and go with the flow!

@SnookyPook Congratulations! It sounds like you have lots of good strategies to stay excited rather than anxious.

Thanks so much for the suggestion for joining the board of other people due in November! My previous losses happened at 6 weeks (one was ectopic, the other a miscarriage) so that feels like a landmark in my head. I think I'll join if/when I get past that point.

My last pregnancy was during lockdown so hopefully this time round it will be easier because I can get out of the house and off of Google!

Hope you're feeling well today ☺️

@neverwakeasleepingbaby hope to see you on there in a couple of weeks! 🥰

My first was a lockdown baby too! Hoping its all a bit less stressful and isolated this time!

So far, so good! Although pregnancy must be one of the only times when not feeling like crap is a bit of a worry 😂
