Just for fun: gender and moon phase question

Did you conceive on a full moon or new moon? And is your due date on a full moon or new moon day?

I conceived on a full moon day and I'm due on a full moon. Boy?

This study suggested a relationship between moon phases and baby's gender: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16295726/

Lunar calendars were also a big part of imperial Chinese households and used to help plan gender of babies.

I'd love to hear anecdotally from people who are pregnant/who've found out their baby's gender already. You can go back and look at your conception day if you have a period/fertility tracker and google what the moon was doing then. I'm only 9 weeks along so won't know for a few months yet...

The moon has absolutely no effect on the sex of the baby, it’s literally whichever sperm gets to the egg first.

lunar calendar suggested both my babies would be boys, I have two girls. They’re fun to look at and guess, but they hold absolutely no truth. It depends whether X sperm or Y sperm got there first.

I mean... I did clearly state in the subject "Just for fun" lol. And pointed out a more recent study that said there is no connection.

But these things are cultural and interesting and I think worth discussing.

I am sure everyone here is aware that sex depends on which chromosome arrived there first. I'd be wary, however, of dismissing ideas about what external things influence this process, outright. There are lots of peer-reviewed studies that do talk about what has been found to slightly favor one outcome.

I always ovulated on a dark moon and bled on a full moon, so I ovulated with DD on the dark moon. I gave birth to her a week after a full moon.

Thanks for sharing! Curious as to what my baby will be. I used to ovulate with the new moon but it switched to the full last year.

I'd love to hear whether it worked for others.

I find it wild so many people would jump at dismissing this outright. Lots of women report being in sync with the moon. The word 'month' and 'menstruation' derive from the Proto-Indo European 'to measure' -- referring specifically to measure by referring to moon phases. Our ocean tides are governed by the moon. It's not soooo outrageous to discuss our bodies being so too.
