Think I'm having a chemical?

Second cycle TTC, tested positive this morning on easy at home and FRER. Faint lines but have colour. However I've been bleeding all day, it's been consistently light throughout the day, red and normal period type blood. It's now ramped up and is defo heavier. Also had cramps most of the day ranging from mild to quite noticeable.

Not sure how many dpo I am as haven't been testing for ovulation but today is CD28. Periods also aren't super regular either as I'm a few months off the pill.

Just not sure what to think really, everything I've read about chemical experiences people get positive tests that fade and then get a later period. However I'm already substantially bleeding an amount that if I hadn't tested positive would just think is my period.

Going to test again tomorrow although I know a 48 hour comparison is better. To be honest if the line is somehow stronger I think I will be more terrified because of the amount I'm bleeding (which to clarify isn't heavy in relation to a period but a scary amount when pregnant)

Don't know what I'm asking for really, just a hand hold I suppose and whether I should be asking to speak to GP tomorrow if bleeding continues? ☹️

Sorry to hear you're in this situation. I also had a very faint positive and then started bleeding that day. I bled for 6 days, normal-ish flow with cramping but my tests just kept getting stronger. Turns out I had a subchorionic hematoma and baby clung on through all the bleeding. I'm now 23 weeks along.
I don't want to give you false hope but thought I'd share a positive story. Unfortunately at this stage it's a waiting game. I was only 4 weeks when I had the bleed so the EPU wouldn't see me yet. They tend to only scan from 6 weeks onwards.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@UnicornRainbowSky thank you so much for your reply.

Yes it's been exactly 4 weeks since my last period so in the same situation. I just don't know what to think, one minute I think the bleeding has eased and I hope to see a stronger line tomorrow and then I think the bleeding and cramps get worse and in some ways hope to see a fainter line, just so it's clear what's going on.

Will just see what tomorrows test looks like and how the bleeding continues. Like you say it's a waiting game.

Pleased it turned out positive for you though.

@UnicornRainbowSky also, did you speak to GP or anything before 6 weeks? Or waited it out and then went EPU?

UnicornRainbowSky · 14/02/2023 20:33

I did call my GP who said they can't refer me to the EPU at this stage. As my tests were getting stronger they said to go to a&e if I had one-sided pain to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. I did end up having pain in my left ovary so went to a&e at 5 weeks. They still couldn't see much but at least confirmed it wasn't ectopic but found a tiny blob in the right place. Really hope it turns out well for you! x

Sorry to hear this 😞 I've had two chemicals, the first I lost at 5 weeks with fading lines, the second was just a very faint line at 4 weeks with period on time. I'm now pregnant again (3rd time lucky I hope!) currently 5 weeks with much stronger lines this time. I didn't call my GP, as I had fading lines so I knew there was nothing they could do. I would say give it 48hrs then test, and if lines are still strong then definitely see your doctor xx

Sagittarius25 · 14/02/2023 21:53

@SillyOldBear3 thank you for replying, yes I will keep an eye on test lines and go from there. Sorry to hear about your chemicals and hope everything stays well this time for you!

It's so hard just not knowing. We are trying for baby number 1 so everything is a first for us and we haven't told any friends or family we are trying, so I really appreciate MN right now! X

@Sagittarius25 no problem, and thank you, I hope things work out for you 🥰 If it does turn out to be a chemical then please take some comfort in the fact that you are ovulating and can implant! They say you are more fertile for a few months after having one, this was definitely the case for me! The majority of women who have chemicals go on to have healthy pregnancies. This is baby #1 for us too. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Sagittarius25 · 15/02/2023 08:43

@SillyOldBear3 yes I have already thought of the bright side that at least I know I'm ovulating etc!

Easy at home test same this morning as yesterday's, but I know tomorrow's which will be 48 hours will the better indicator.

Didn't bleed as much overnight as I thought I would, however am still lightly bleeding bright red this morning. Cramps have stopped, didn't have any overnight and none so far today.

The days just seem to be going so slowly! Part of me just wants to bundle onto the sofa and do nothing, but the other part wants to try and be normal. Luckily work is quite busy this week so am trying to bury myself into it.

Would you say it was lighter than your normal period? Tomorrow's will definitely be a better indicator, and if not, perhaps at that point contact your GP as they can send you for a scan to find out what's happening. Hope you're ok ❤️

Sagittarius25 · 15/02/2023 15:53

Yes I'd say it's lighter than my normal period. Hard to judge though as I usually use tampons but know I shouldn't right now, so am using pads (much to my hatred 😂) so hard to compare flow. It's more than spotting as a pad is needed but it is quite light. But normal, red flow.

Will see what tomorrows tests look like. Still no cramps today which is a good sign I guess. Xx

Update from me, bleeding has slowed to almost nothing, no more just like brown spotting if anything. Tests are getting darker.

Called my GP surgery this morning to ask to speak to a GP to be told that all emergency appointments had been taken for the day. (they opened at 8am and I managed to get in the queue and through at 8:20!) Then told the receptionist what the reason was and they bluntly said I can call back at 2pm or ring 111.

Luckily I have access to a private network of GP's through my work health insurance, so have booked a phone appointment for 09:40. Just want some advice really - I know there isn't anything that can be done in these very early stages. Was just trying to speak to my actual GP in case they wanted to do bloods 48 hours apart.

My next worry is that if I need to go to EPU in next couple of weeks, I know you need a referral from GP to be seen at my local one - which seems impossible if you can't even speak to a GP! Grrr.

@Sagittarius25 It's good that your tests are getting darker, O can't believe your GP receptionist was so rubbish 😞 did you manage to speak to a doctor on the phone? Hopefully they are able to refer you straight to EPU. I hope you're OK, keep us updated xx

Sagittarius25 · 17/02/2023 22:17

Yes managed to speak to the doctor on the phone, really not impressed with my GP practice, I know they are all so busy but yeah.

She took details including last period etc and she said I am very early, around 4+2 so a scan etc wouldn't be able to see anything yet. I've actually only had one spot of bleeding today the whole day which is good and no more cramps still since Tuesday.

She said likely a heavy implantation bleed but just have to monitor over the next week. Said if I have bad pain or heavy bleeding go to A&E but if everything ok in about a week and tests positive then I can self refer to midwives.

Trying to keep calm and quietly optimistic!

This mornings test, first one at 3 mins, second pic the same test about 5 minutes later in better light. Keeping everything crossed this bean is in the right place and sticks 🤞🏼

That's really positive news, really hope the little bean is sticking for you! That test looks dark too, definitely not a squinter! I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed for you🤞 do you have any symptoms? Don't worry if not, I'm 5+3 today and my only symptoms are slightly sore boobs.

Sagittarius25 · 18/02/2023 09:11

@SillyOldBear3 thank you! No symptoms at the moment, bit more tired if anything but that may be down to the stress of the last few days also! Hoping everything stays positive for you too 😊 x

Hi everyone
I need some reassurance please I’m about to go crazy here
I had a chemical pregnancy last month January, tested positive 2 days before my period then negative on my period day
I was heartbroken

now I’m pregnant this cycle Feb I don’t know how I feel about it since I got no symptoms yet. pregnancy tests from this cycle have very strong lines I don’t know if this is a good thing or bad.
I am 13 dpo now with no symptoms and very anxious I don’t know how I should feel

ps the first pic is from my Chemical pregnancy and the second picture is from this cycle, 12 dpo darker than 13 because I’m going crazy my anxiety is over the roof

Think I'm having a chemical?

@Nay123 this month your lines are much darker, I would just try to focus on that for now. HCG only doubles every 48hrs so don't panic that today's is lighter than yesterday's, it could just be that your urine is more diluted. My lines were often the same or slightly lighter one day to the next, but as long as they progressively darken that's what counts! Your current lines look like a pregnancy that is implanting successfully. Try not to panic, get lots of rest, try to take your mind off it, and test again in 48 hrs. Wishing you lots of luck xx
