6 week scan - no baby

I had a scan today due to some bleeding (brown/ pink spotting)
They're estimating me around 6 weeks

However. They couldn't see a baby.
They can see a "pregnancy" but no baby. I've attached my scan picture below

I have to go back next week. But it doesn't sound hopeful - has anyone else had this?

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't given the news you'd hoped, I had a similar experience in July. I had a scan at 7+5 but was measuring 5+3. They could see yolk sac but no fetal pole or embryo. I scoured MumsNet and found just as many hopeful stories where dates were wrong/scan was too early and a scan later down the line they saw a baby as I did not so great stories where it was an anembryonic pregnancy. That was the case for me - they booked me in for a scan in 2 weeks to see if anything had changed and I started miscarrying in that time... this type of miscarriage is called a blighted ovum or an anembyonic pregnancy. Sending you lots of love and keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Hey, sorry to hear your going through this.
With my current pregnancy I went in at 6+3 with bleeding and was scanned (internal and external scan) and only a sack no baby or yolk or anything.
I was told don't get hopes up etc... went back 10 days later and there was a fully formed baby and everything was fine. And my dates were exact to what I originally was.
I'm now 17 weeks.

Obviously I don't know what's going to happen for you and I really do hope for a great outcome, but don't lose hope just yet.

Good luck xx

@positivethoughts1 I'm sorry that happened to you Flowers
Thank you for the information tho- that's incredibly more helpful than any of the sonographers or midwifes have been x

I try to share as much as I can when ever I see these types of scans because the sonographer didn't explain much to me either! Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Just to update- I saw my baby and their heartbeat today! They said where my cycles are long they think I ovulated late and was too early for a scan last week!
