Thoughts on St George's Hospital?

Early days into my pregnancy. I had my son at St Helier. I thought they were good but I've heard really good things about St George's. Just asking for opinions really. They were really good when I had a mmc. Just wondering what it's like to have a baby there? I'd likely need to be under consultant care due to severe preeclampsia in a previous pregnancy.

I had the worst time there.

All the notes they took were wrong and they didn't write half of what we discussed not even accurately. They put down I had surgeries when I didn't? The ignored my underlying health condition, they took me off high priority with no explanation which meant I didn't receive the care I needed.
Their chaplain even got my child's name wrong after they checked it with me prior ... They ignored all of my medical history and were more interested in treating me as routine to ease their workload. They have a dedicated email that they encourage you to use when you need to ask questions. I used this email as I had an issue, I was ignored. They're just so badly run and the only advice you get from midwives is "if you're not leaking/bleeding through a pad you're fine"

It's such a badly run hospital, I can't even put it into words. If you do want to have your child there, ask to speak to Consultant midwife Chelone and have her watch over you.

@DanaSa101 I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I hope all is ok now. I decided to go with St Helier again after all, as it's so close to my house. Happy so far!

I honestly would not recommend St. Helier's Hospital to anyone. I very recently had an awful experience going through IVF. I knew it could go wrong but I though at least I was in a place where they were going to do the best for me. I could never be more wrong. They are so incompetent is unbelievable, one doctor say one thing and the other says totally the opposite and you are the one paying the consequences of their mistakes. Absolutely horrible. AVOID AT ANY COST.

I'm actually having my second at St Helier. More the location due to anything. I've found them ok so far. Sorry you had a bad experience @Kyra23

Work at at SGH maternity and it’s a very good unit with alot of expertise. There will always be good and bad everywhere unfortunately. The recommendation for a specific midwife however in a previous post I wouldn’t go along with however, as someone that knows the team very wel 😬
