Early scan not hopeful

Hi, hoping for some advice.

I had an early scan privately (my dates have me at 7+5) but the heartbeat was slow and measuring a week behind. I am sure of the dates as we have been TTC for quite a wile and I was on progesterone.

I am rebooked for another scan next week to confirm and we were told it didn’t look good. I already have my booking appointment (next week) and first scan date (end of Jan) through from the NHS. Do I need to get in touch with them at this point or do I wait to the repeat scan next week.

Has anyone else been in this position and had a good outcome? Not feeling very hopeful but I do still have quite strong pregnancy symptoms (nausea and sore boobs). Thanks so much.

I’m really sorry things weren’t as expected at your private scan. I would contact EPU and explain about what happened at your private scan as they may scan you in an week instead of you having to go privately. I really hope it’s all ok for you.

I don’t have any advice about symptoms really but the 2 miscarriages I had I lost symptoms when I started to bleed but I hadn’t had an early scan so didn’t know until the bleeding started

@allgoodthings84 thanks so much for your reply. I will contact EPU. I think because I am on progesterone I won’t experience bleeding until I stop taking that so maybe the symptoms will continue to then.

@Buttons86 I don’t want to get your hopes up but do you know when you ovulated? I was always told to add the two weeks onto that rather than go by first day of period.

A week behind wouldn’t be too much of a worry but with the heartbeat slower than anticipated it is a bit concerning. Did they mention the heart rate? I’d definitely call the EPU, although I always thought a bleed wouldn’t occur until there was no heartbeat. Sending you hugs.

@Mostwonderful thanks ❤️. Yea my dates are right within a few days based on when ovulated.

I was in a bit of a state and trying to keep it together so I didn’t ask what the heart rTs was - the clinician just said there was a tiny heartbeat but it was slow and behind what would expect for my dates and that it didn’t look promising.

Ive left a message with EPU so hopefully they get back to me soon.
