I don’t know where I am with my period and it’s very strange this month. I have been trying to conceive I was due on period at beginning of this January so I’m a couple days ‘late’ this is my cycle so far..I’m I out for possible pregnancy?

Information below:

last period date: 4th December

pink clearblue ovulation stick result: 23rd/24th December (19/20days into cycle).

pregnancy 5 day early test result: Yeaterday and today negative so that would be 12DPO and 13DPO

i ovulated on day 19/20 of my cycle it appears so that seems later than my others could I possibly still be pregnant if pregnancy test is coming up negative?and no period yet

please don’t read and run 🙏 😘 x

@SarahHewitt yep the frer is first response early test. I found boots own 6 days early was good too. I’m not sure about boots but the frer is 6 sensitivity so the most sensitive you can get

JD90 · 08/01/2023 14:49

@SarahHewitt how you holding up? I can only agree with the response of others. I never missed a period in my life then randomly summer just got didn't get anything for almost 3 months. My gp did look into and I had some bloods done but all were normal and then a few weeks later af decided to come back again and has been regular (other than an ectopic in october) since.

SarahHewitt · 08/01/2023 17:17

@allgoodthings84 I’ll try the first response by Tuesday x

@JD90 im not 100% I’m just very confused by it as it’s very unusual for me to go this long without a period and not be pregnant only happened twice before when I was pregnant one for dd and one for miscarriage in October. That must of been difficult to not have I bet you was thinking you was pregnant? It’s just messing with my head , but because I did have a ovulation test later on in my cycle is making me think I’ve implanted late or it’s a cycle I haven’t ovulated I don’t know but it’s really messing with me x

@SarahHewitt I only thought I might be pregnant until maybe a week late with negative tests, after that I had a telephone apt with gp who explained that unfortunately sometimes for no reason women skip. Figured it would have happened before I was 37 but hey 🤷🏻‍♀️ then it was an is this peri menopause? Then just had to wait it out, nothing I was going to do was going to help...

SarahHewitt · 08/01/2023 18:30

@JD90 yeah same I’m 35 you would think it would have happened before. I use to get very long cycles in my 20s but that was normal for me in my mid 20s they settled to a normal 28-30 period x
i think what is messing with me more so is that I had that peak in Lh surge on 24 December and that’s messing with me because I even thought when I saw it ‘oh how late is that -that will make my period late’ and with counting 12 days after 24th would mean the latest I could implant is 5th January but I did expect to see a BFP if it was pregnancy by now (I took a test yesterday negative) I haven’t today and probably won’t now untill Tuesday. The late indication of ovulation and when I had intercourse on those couple days is playing on my mind more than if I had an earlier or normal ovulation then I would of known it’s not 99% pregnancy with counting up the days 😢x

@JD90 did you go back regular now x

OP posts:
autumn1610 · 08/01/2023 18:41

I skipped a period Dec 2020 usually on a 26-28 day cycle I ended up on a 39 day cycle. It drove me crazy testing every few days but always negative. I then went on to a 30 day cycle the month after then back to 28 days. I was 33 at the time. It was the most annoying thing not knowing what was going on

SarahHewitt · 08/01/2023 19:05

@autumn1610 that does sound unusual and then how it came back to your 28 days . That’s how I feel now I feel also frustrated
that I can’t say 100 percent I didn’t ovulate late and this is a late implantation and that’s why I came up negative . Then I read all these posts about people getting a bfp a week or 2 after their period was due and were late implanting stories haha . I just don’t know what’s going on and that’s the annoying thing x

JD90 · 09/01/2023 09:24

@SarahHewitt I think my cycle is regular now but it is difficult to say for certain. As my period came back in August then end of September I got a bfp but unfortunately 2 weeks later had the rupture and surgery. Cycle came back 5 weeks after that in November then again in Dec both times are 32 days (which is standard for me).
Been tracking with opks so by that I'm currently 7dpo (cd 25) so seems to be on track for another 32 days. I have however learnt in the past year to just not assume anything anymore. So we shall see where I am later in the week...

How you feeling today?

SarahHewitt · 09/01/2023 10:19

@JD90 im sorry to hear that. But some form of normality returning with your periods is positive. Me too you just can’t assume anything, I’m going to test tomorrow as I’ll be 16 dpo approx and then see how things go. I have developed a sharp throb type pain that comes and goes from yesterday and it’s doing it again today it’s in the far left lower, no sign of period 5 days late x

OP posts:
SarahHewitt · 09/01/2023 10:20

It doesn’t feel like my usual ‘period pain’

OP posts:
JD90 · 09/01/2023 10:25

@SarahHewitt if you are concerned then contact 111 or your GP maybe? It's difficult as they may be somewhat dismissive as so often happens with any female with pelvic pain 😕

SarahHewitt · 09/01/2023 10:35

@JD90 they are very dismissive. Especially because I had a early miscarriage in October this would of been my third cycle if I had come on so I’m in the remit of my periods being out of sync up to a few months after a ‘miscarriage’ all i noticed is my last 2 cycles after miscarriage were they went on abit longer so were I was coming on 28/29 days I started coming on 30-31 days nothing really that different but did make them longer abit but this one just decided not turn up haha. Prior last week before this happened had ordered a hormone test it was unrelated to this it was only because I was talking about a blood test for my iron to be checked that I mentioned about hormones test and she agreed to give one I think just because i wanted it ruled out ironically now that this has happened I need to to decide when I can go for that blood test , doctor didn’t mention about going at a certain time in my cycle …so now I’m 5 days late I’m I best going soon to see if it shows anything hormonally going on? X

@SarahHewitt i rang the GP with mine and he was lovely but they couldn’t do anything until it was a month late. Apparently these things just happen…stress, being Ill etc. hope you get your answer soon as it’s so frustrating

SarahHewitt · 10/01/2023 17:36

@autumn1610 i called the Gp too and mentioned along with a rash I have and he says I have shingles! I can’t believe it :( I told GP I was a week late period and tested negative and he said even if I had shingles it’s only a concern later on on pregnancy but it’s making me wonder if having a virus is knocking my period about? I don’t know but it’s so frustrating x

OP posts:
JD90 · 10/01/2023 17:38

@SarahHewitt did you see anyone or just speak to them?

allgoodthings84 · 10/01/2023 17:42

Virus’ can definitely set back ovulation so set back AF. Covid did to me. Did the Dr see you though as surely would need to see the rash to know if it was shingles? I think people are very poorly with shingles but not had it myself only known people who have

Msgrieves · 10/01/2023 17:44

When I conceived third child I apparently ovulaed when due on, then 2 weeks later bfp. No idea why I was usually clockwork, 27 days but that was a randomly long cycle, was confused at the time. Good luck.

SarahHewitt · 10/01/2023 23:00

@JD90 yeah I saw the doctor and looked at this rash I have only one side of my hip and he said straight away it’s Shingles. I had got it last week I had a high fever and then this rash developed but I didn’t put the two together it’s only when I’ve noticed the rash got worse x

OP posts:
SarahHewitt · 10/01/2023 23:02

@allgoodthings84 yeah he wanted to see to confirm what the rash could be said shingles straight away! I had a fever last week and felt really poorly but I didn’t put the two together as this rash developed it’s only has the rash got worse I contacted the doctors, it must of been that making me feel not great x

OP posts:
SarahHewitt · 10/01/2023 23:03

@allgoodthings84 did covid knock your ovulation? Maybe shingles virus has knocked my ovulation too? X

OP posts:
SarahHewitt · 11/01/2023 10:58

Just to let everyone know my period started today 7 days late… so did I ovulate just later maybe because of shingles? When you get your period a few days later than expected is it likely have I still ovulated but just later? Or with Anovulation would your period just not turn up for that cycle, just trying to judge abit what it was , and I’ll start again TTC when I’m better x

FarmBaby3 · 11/01/2023 11:07

I think sometimes our bodies take a knock (stress, illness, sadness, worry) and it knocks off ovulation or period arriving. I wouldn't read too much into it and just look ahead to the next cycle

JD90 · 11/01/2023 14:58

@SarahHewitt glad you have some kind of resolution to the situation. As for the reason, its impossible to know. The only way to 100% confirm ovulation is with an ultrasound as they can see which ovary it came from. Fingers crossed going forwards everything is more regular, and that your shingles clears up! I had it when I was a teenager, I don't really remember much about the feeling unwell side but I definitely remember the pain! It was horrendous
