Cramping very early on

Sorry to have to ask this here - I don’t really know anyone who has been pregnant recently!

I am 4.5 weeks so only just pregnant and have had some mild period type cramps all day, but on and off. Is this normal or should I be worried?

I know no one can give medical advice but just want to know did this happen to anyone else very early on, right after the TWW?

I had exactly this. I was 4+4 and so strong I was convinced the pregnancy was surely over. I’m now 9.5 weeks and all appears well.

I had cramping in all of my pregnancies and so I'd say mild is pretty normal. If you are bleeding or it gets worse it's worth getting it checked out.

In fact in my first pregnancy I was sure my period was coming as it was v. similar cramping. However it never came and I have a 5 year old instead!

Yeah slight period type cramps are normal. I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby and have had them with all 3. I always slightly worry even though I know it is normal!

I had mild cramping right up until about 30 weeks. If you bleed get it checked but cramping is normal I think.

Exactly the same here! Nearly had a heart attack when I had the positive test because I had these cramps and was spotting (I did ask nurse about the spotting and they said this was ok).

Really appreciate those who are sharing their experiences. I will keep an eye on it but sounds like it is quite normal so hopefully all is ok.

My midwife used to say mild cramps is totally normal - anything more painful that you'd need painkillers then I was to ring them.
It's everything moving in prep for baby.
I'm currently pregnant with my second, and had cramps early with both babies xx

Hey! This was my first and most obvious symptom from BFP to around 8 weeks. It felt like I was going to get my period at any moment so I was also surprised when i saw the positive :)!
I agree that if they are mild, its usually totally normal but if they are very painful, persistent and include bleeding/spotting, then get it checked.
Congratulations :)

I had cramping for the first couple of weeks. Mine were milder than period cramps. I think it’s quite normal as long as they aren’t extremely painful and accompanied with bleeding (spotting more than likely is ok, it’s the bright red blood/clots that isn’t).

Alysskea · 30/12/2022 15:35

Thank you all :) spoke to a nurse today about this and she said exactly what you have said - that v light spotting and mild cramps aren’t a worry. She had said if they carry in she’ll check my HCG but that she isn’t worried and it would be more to reassure me. I really appreciate all the comments, honestly! This experience is really new to me, I am 28 so on the young side, none of my friends have had kids. Thank you everyone :)

I had cramping a lot in early pregnancy, in fact it was on and off right up until somewhere in my second trimester. Now 39 weeks and cramping again which I hope means I get to meet baby soon 😅 As others and your midwife have said it's normal, but if you get bleeding get checked out.

toomanysausages · 31/12/2022 23:11

I had very bad cramping from 10dpo and was convinced I would come on my period at any minute. I didn't and I'm now 14+4
