Thickened nuchal fold at 18 weeks?

Hi, really hoping someone has been through something similar and had a positive outcome...

I am 18+5w pregnant with my second baby (rainbow baby as we suffered a MMC earlier this year). All was perfect with my 12 week scan and I opted for the blood tests to check for Downs etc and results came back very low risk which was great. Yesterday I went for my 20w scan and all was looking great apart from the nuchal fold which was measuring 7mm when it should be less than 6mm. The sonographer checked the brain and heart etc separately and said they looked fine but has referred me to have closer scans done at Fetal Medicine.

I'm trying to stay positive and cling to the fact that everything else seemed ok but can't help but be worried sick... over Christmas as well! Just hoping someone has been through something similar?

Thanks x

Hi!
I'm just wondering how you got on?
Ive just had my scan at 20 weeks and was told the nuchal fold is at 8mm. We are going for a further scan on Thursday to check everything.
hope you’re doing okay? X

@HMC1102 hi, I'm still waiting for our next scan unfortunately so I'm no further forward :( at my scan the Sonographer was struggling with the babies position and said that he kept getting a different reading for the nuchal fold (some under and some over 6mm) so I'm just really hoping that it was due to baby's awkward position as I've read online (never the best idea really) that the baby's position can affect it quite a bit. Hopefully it might be the same for you? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, please let me know how you get on after your scan! x

yes my sonographer said the same thing to us and did send us for a walk to remeasure but was still 8mm.
Ive been doing a lot of reading but found quite a bit of reassurance by doing so! Found one ladies story where hers was 10.5mm and her daughter was absolutely fine. It really doesn’t make a difference to me or my partner but it just worries you doesn’t it. I will let you know when I’ve had the scan 😊 x

Hi!
Just wanted to give you an update, I’ve just had my scan and it was now measuring at 6.1mm but I am 21 + 6 today.
Everything else is still showing as growing perfect and this was the only thing. They advised she may have a fat neck (she checked the back of mine and advised it would be from me) or she may have downs but the chances are only 15/20%. I am still deciding if I want the amino or not as it doesn’t make a difference to me but I’m a person that just needs to know something but we will never know for definite until she is born. Xx
