Bleeding heavily and consistently from 20 weeks

Hello, I’m looking for some shared experiences or advice if possible please. I started to have strange coloured discharge from week 18 which then became blood ( very much like a period) from week 20. This has ebbed and flow until today where I am at 22 weeks 3 days. I have been to hospital labour ward 5 times. They have taken blood, swab and done speculum to check cervix is closed. All tests come back negative and baby heart beat there. They have kept me in overnight for monitoring. I’ve also had my 20 week sonography scan during this time and baby is healthy and normal. I’m now at a loss. Why am I bleeding? Has anyone been through this before? Does it ultimately end in miscarriage or very early labour? Could there be something missed or not informed to me by NHS? The bleeding is normal to me now - it’s heavy and constant. There must be a reason for this. I just wish I has some idea. Thanks

@MammaD1 I don't have any experience on this I'm afraid but didn't want to read and run. It sounds like they've done a load of tests and your little baby seems to be OK which is great news! Did they mention anything about the position of your placenta? Mine is low atm, covering the cervix, and I've been spotting for the last 10 days.

Could it be a haematoma?

I would ask them whether they have ruled out vasa previa (this can only be done with a vaginal ultrasound so if you haven’t had one, they may not have considered it).
It’s not common so not on everyone’s radar.

Thanks for taking the time to message. The placenta is high so not low lying as yours. Good luck x

Yes, I had it with my second child (baby was fine). It was missed on 9 scans though, it’s not usually what they are looking for

MammaD1 how are you doing?
