Hiya
due my 5th c section early new year. Each one has been different and I was wondering if anyone has had one recently and can tell me what’s ‘allowed’ now?
1st one was emergency
2nd was due to breach but spent most of day in a waiting room, then a scan and taken down for prep. Didn’t see partner till all this had been done. He stayed for delivery then had to leave and meet me on the ward later
3rd much the same
4th was during lockdown and was very different. Given own room, partner changed into scrubs and crocs and was with me the entire time ( till he was kicked off ward then wasn’t allowed back on for the next 4 days!)
Just want to be prepared this time!
Thanx x

Best wishes for your upcoming c section! Think I know which hospital you will be at going by your username, general consensus there is that you will be given a room on delivery suite where your partner stays with you until you go down to theatre which will depend on where you are on list and any emergencies happening. If delivery suite is full of labouring women then sometimes you wait in a waiting room until a room becomes free but this doesn't seem to happen often, and as far as I'm aware partners can wait with you.
You'll then have your section, go back to either the recovery room (single occupancy) or the room you were in beforehand then transfer down to postnatal ward when initial 'recovery' from surgery complete. The postnatal ward visiting times are something like 8am-8pm for partners so he should be able to be with you for a good while after your section 🤞
Hope all goes well x
