How is your twin pregnancy going?

I am 21 weeks pregnant with DCDA twins, this is my first (and last!) pregnancy. How is everyone else getting on?

We are not finding out the sexes -lm sure there is at least 1 boy in there. Morning sickness ruled me from week 6 to week 18. Eased off and then reflux reared it’s ugly head. Im covered in chicken skin from bikini line to knees (thank god husbands eye sight is a bit dodgy!). I love sleeping on my front but can’t. I’m on 150mg of aspirin AND fucking clexane injections. Twin 1 is a decent size and twin 2 is BIG -they didn’t get the memo about twins being smaller so hospital suspect gestational diabetes. So they want me to test my blood sugar levels 5 times a day. It’s not as l busting out BM’s in the 4’s and 5’s.

Work think l will be doing business as usual until the end of April despite me being a community mental health nurse. Even though l am getting a c-section 1st week in April AND have annual leave l will need to use. They haven’t even done my risk assessment yet. I have tried explaining that by the end of January then l will most likely be the same size as a woman 40 weeks pregnant with one. But they don’t seem to be getting it

But l have barely put on any weight. Varicose veins haven’t appeared yet -lots of family gave varicose veins. Especially the auntie who had twins.

I did a video call earlier and my colleague asked me if l have a cold. My husband charmingly describes it as my “fat person breathing”. As l am already starting to struggle to get my breathe, lm not even that big yet 🤷‍♀️. People often don’t notice e.g. the waiter at a wedding a few weeks ago who kept on trying to make me drink wine. So the next 15 weeks should be interesting…

Ooft I remember it well. I had dcda boys nearly 8 years ago now. I got to 37+6, they were 7lbs5 and 6lbs4.
my biggest bit of advice would be to get a bump support belt. I found mine invaluable. I had a 55” waist the morning I had them!
also try to book some physio as your hips will go to jelly when you’re suddenly not carrying two babies, two placentas, extra fluid etc.
good luck!

I feel for you. It's a long time since I was pg with my twins (29 years!) but I remember being jolly uncomfortable at night and felt like I had no sleep at all for the last few weeks. My waters broke at around 30 weeks and I had them naturally. The worst bit was just feeling tired all the time. DH had to get involved with nappies, carrying them around etc because I couldn't deal with both of them at once, and the first year was a bit of a blur. Was fun after they started to recognise each other and 'talk' (babbling) to each other. Anyway, best wishes x
