Has anyone experienced viral coughs/colds in pregnancy? I'm currently coughing a lot and bringing up clear to green phlegm... can the phlegm affect growing fetus?

Currently third trimester and can't sleep as it is without coughing😂

No, your baby will be fine. It will just be you that feels rough. Hope you start to feel better soon. Flowers

Thank you, I keep trying to cough up the phlegm but I can't get it up properly and end up swallowing it which is making me worry that I'll pass the virus to the baby!

Hoping it goes soon😭😭xx

The virus is already in your body, it's not going to affect the baby any differently if you swallow the phlegm, the baby isn't in your actual stomach 🙈 just do what you can to feel better you're not the first and won't be the last pregnant woman to get a cold!!

That is very true!! Think I'm just panicking as I have bad asthma and I don't want it to get worse😂 is there anything I can take? Doctors said only paracetamol?😭

If that's what your doctor advised then listen to them, don't ask strangers on the Internet for their advice 🙄🙄 you're always posting stupid questions

Quirked · 10/12/2022 18:09

I cant see why the phlehm would be an issue. Go with what the doctor says regarding medication.. they know best. Plenty of pregnant people get viruses/colds...particularly this time of year..

Thank you, I'm so pleased you support everyone with mental health ☺️ different people have things going on in their lives some of these 'stupid.' Questions stem from anxiety which is being helped but sometimes not having friends or family to speak to.

I've met some wonderful and helpful people on here no need to comment if you feel that way☺️

He said to watch the phlegm as can lead to more serious problem, didn't really have much when I saw him.

He was also unsure on what I could take pregnancy wise, only other than paracetamol☺️

I've had quite a few viral infections since being pregnant (everything my daughter catches at nursery she's been passing to me). Each cough has lasted about 3 weeks, I did need steriods for one of them as my asthma got very bad and inhalers weren't doing enough but baby been fine. Hope you get better soon.

Hi, I have a implant in wich is Nexplanon, I've had it in for nearly 2 years but this past 3 days I have been feeling really sick back pain and tender breast, I did a pregnancy test and I can see a very very I mean very faint line, it's all most invisible to see. I was just wondering if anyone has got pregnant on the implant

Oh bless, I'm not sure id hate to give you the wrong advice. But you could possibly go to you GP or call the early pregnancy unit at your local hospital and ask for their advice they're very helpful and may want to scan you?

Hope all is okay xx

@Babyno2due literally what do you think this forum is for....? 👀
Seriously though why has netmums become such a hostile place 🤷

Hope you feel better soon OP.

@Katnissx this is Mumsnet. And this poster does post constantly about every single stupid thing that she can think about.

Are paint fumes bad in pregnancy
Can I be in the house with expanding foam
Will a dehumidifier affect my baby
Can I take steroids whilst pregnant
Is this chicken raw..

Etc etc etc.

@Ultraviolett you need to step away from the internet and get some help for your anxiety.

You and quit referring to my posts as stupid, you can scroll by? My anxiety is being seen too doesn't stop the curiosity I'm sorry that what I think is stupid, but sharing is easier than keeping it in which coincidentally my 'help.' Is who told me this - as long as I'm not googling I can in-fact ask for advice.
I'd happily answer 100 'stupid.' Questions from posters than think that someone behind their screen feels alone or worried.

Sorry everyone else has a different mindset.

@Ultraviolett you thought a dehumidifier would affect your pregnancy.

I don't think I need to say anything else frankly. You'll have a baby soon. Scary
