How pregnant am I actually?

Bit of a long one.. I found out I was pregnant on 20/11/22. My LMP was 03/10/22 which would put me at 8 weeks and 1 day today if I had a “normal” 28 day cycle.

Before falling pregnant, I was undergoing tests for PCOS and Endometriosis with massively irregular and lengthy periods, meaning I have no clue when I was ovulating and estimated period dates were vague.

Frustratingly, I only half logged intercourse dates in Oct/Nov. I had a normal period (for me) first week of October so I think I likely conceived early Nov.

My question is - How pregnant am I actually?
Clear Blue says 2-3 weeks…

I’ve got a private scan at WTTW booked for 09/12/22 and need to be 6 weeks for it to show anything - my overriding fear is that they’ll tell me I’m only measuring 3/4 weeks pregnant rather than 8/9 weeks - am I being irrational?! Or is this an actual possibility?

My GP has asked me to come off my anxiety medication and I’m really struggling with anxious overwhelming thoughts and concerns. My first midwife appointment is in 7 days and I can vocalise all of this to them, but I’m not sure if they’ll be able to offer me any practical advice other than just wait for my dating scan..

Apologies for the rant but grateful for any advice x

Have you got any other treatments going on for anxiety - gP offering referral for CBT or counselling?

Sorry i can't offer any practical help re dates!

2-3 weeks on clearblue would suggest you conceived 2-3 weeks ago and are 4-5 weeks pregnant. It's not an exact measurement though!

KM1991 · 29/11/2022 23:06

If your clearblue is reading 2-3 weeks then you are around 4-5 weeks pregnant. I am 6weeks1day today and mine changed to 3+ at 5weeks4days but I know down to the minute when I got pregnant (ivf).

if I had conceived ‘normally’ i would have conceived first few days of November if that helps narrow it down for you. X

I reckon you'll be at least 6 weeks by then. Say the 20th was 10 DPO which (for me) is the earliest I can see a reliable line on a test, then at that point you would be 3+3 and by the 9/12 you would be 6+1.

Even if you was 8DPO on 20th (which is really early for a positive) you would be 5+6 by 9th and anything above that would put you 6+ weeks.

At 6 weeks the baby is tiny and you may not see a heartbeat yet and a few days either side can make a difference so if you are anxious it might be worth pushing the WTTW scan back a couple of weeks to avoid any possible worries. I went for a scan around 6 weeks and it was too early and I spent the next 2 weeks worrying but there was a heartbeat at the next scan.

Also meant to say from ivf apps/forums I’m in most (not all as the clearblue tests aren’t particularly accurate) find the clearblue changed to 3+ around 6weeks pregnant give or take a few days so perhaps take another in a few days and see if it changes? X

Unfortunately not, GP just told me to come off my meds (husband is not happy about me going ‘cold turkey’) but hopefully midwife can point me in the right direction!

Am actually going to do another one tomorrow (spent a bloody fortune on CB tests!) because I did the last one on Saturday when it said 2-3. Already having lots of symptoms so will just need to wait it out and see!

I did think about pushing it back but they advise to wait 2 weeks after your first positive test to ensure you’re 6 weeks, and by 9/12 it’ll have been 19 days since my first BFP. I’ll keep an eye on how things go this week and then consider the change

If you wait til your period is late, then test positive then 2 weeks later will be about 6 weeks so I can see why they say that. But if you tested early you could still be under 6 weeks.

I think you should be at least 6 weeks by the 9th. Was the test faint positive or much darker when you tested on 20th?

mrsmlm · 30/11/2022 00:06

My period should’ve been due roughly the 10th Nov apparently. These were my tests on the 20th

Hi ladies - little update, tested again this morning and got a 3+! I’ve promised myself and DH that’ll be the last test I do because otherwise I’m going to drive myself nuts over these sticks.

If I’m getting 3+ and my LMP was 03/10/22, surely I’ve got to be at least 6 weeks by end of next week… by chance of fate our WTTW has been bumped to the 10th so hopefully we get some reassurance that everything’s progressing as it should be.. x

Idk which medication u are on for anxiety. But stopping them cold turkey is not a good idea. Probably better to have a second opinion from a good doctor. I took prozac throughout my pregnancy and did well and know a number of people who took them during my pregnancy including my sister and a few close friends.

ratherbthedevil · 18/12/2022 23:44

@mrsmlm how did the scan go?

mrsmlm · 19/12/2022 08:42

So we had a bit of a whirlwind!

Mon 5th, started spotting and GP advised me to go to A&E (which felt like a massive overkill but I did as I was told). They took bloods, urine etc… and eventually decided to scan me at the EGU on the Tuesday.

That scan showed only a sac and a yolk sac but no baby. They measured me around 5-6 weeks, so I pushed the private scan back to Fri 16th.

At WTTW on Fri, they measured me 6wk 5 days and saw a tiny tiny baby with a healthy heartbeat which was the biggest relief after the past few weeks.

Got to go back on Wednesday to the EGU for a follow up so they can officially test viability but I’m feeling much less anxious.

Fingers crossed our little bean will continue growing. ❤️

This is so great. I wish I had such kind of information during my pregnancy
