Midwife has not given me maternity notes before 12 week scan.

I had my 10 week appointment today with my midwife who took info on family medical history, info on my partner etc and was told that they would now arrange for the 12 week scan. I was told to expect a letter through the post soon. I was expecting my midwife to give me my maternity notes to take away as i assume these are needed to be taken along to the scan. The midwife said she was not going to give them to me today. I stupidly didn't think anything of it and didn't question it at the time. Has anyone else had experience of receiving their notes after the 12 week scan? Any experiences/advice would be greatly appreciated😊

Hi, when I had my initial appointment at 6 weeks I was given my notes to fill in re my history etc. A midwife then came to visit me at home when I was about 10 weeks, she added some more info to the notes and took them with her. I was then given them back at my 12 week scan. Hope that all makes sense! :-)

Are they online? Mine were 3 years ago.

I'm a midwife, we give the handheld notes back at the scan. Some trusts are digital. But either way, you will have the information following the scan.
We need to complete all the records which is time consuming. You would have to sit there for maybe 3 hours if we were to give them back the same day. Lot of paperwork and computer work involved unfortunately 😕.

Im sure i'll receive them at some point soon, was just more concerned that I would need them for the 12 week scan as a lot of friends/familiy have said that you should get them prior. Im sure everywhere is a little different. Thanks again! 😌

I was given them at my booking in appointment.
