Hello! So I was having dinner at my MIL’s and I ate some Turkey liver. I didn’t realise until after eating it that it is no recommended in pregnancy due to high levels of vitamin a.

could anyone please offer some advice, or words of reassurance?

Thank you☺️

I mean, no it isn't recommended but that being said a lot of people don't know they're pregnant at 5wks and are eating and drinking as they would have otherwise. I imagine it would take reasonably sustained consumption to cause a serious issue so I'd draw a line under it and know for future and try not to worry yourself.

You'll be fine

Ohdearnotagain76 · 23/11/2022 18:57

Use to be recommended years ago.

Whiskyvodka · 23/11/2022 18:58

@mossop1 when I was pregnant in the 80’s we were encouraged to eat liver.
Dont worry, just draw a line under it.
You will be fine.

I am slightly confused with countries having different guidelines. I hope a one off will be okay.
Thank you for your advice.

Your baby will come out with feathers but apart from that, it's fine.

Firen · 23/11/2022 22:04

I don’t think it passes across at that stage, honestly you’ll be fine!!

Mydogatemypurse · 23/11/2022 22:09

You will be 100% fine

Just lay off the page, liver, booze, unpasteurised anything and you'll be fine 😉 congratulations!

@custardbear I’m really interested what the autocorrect for page is, pate?

i've got visions of the OP chomping books in the corner of a library

I did this too by accident. I spoke to the obstetric consultant (who we were seeing for other reasons!) who said this was not something to remotely worry about. Obviously avoid it from now on but don’t worry at all. My baby was perfectly healthy.
