Sex at 4/5 weeks?

Is it just me or does it feel like having intercourse might harm the pregnancy at such an early stage? Sounds silly but can't help feeling like it's the case. First time round so a little confused. Any thoughts? X

Sex during any stage of pregnancy will not hurt the embryo/foetus

relax and enjoy

Sex will in no way harm your pregnancy. Not even a little bit.

It's worth bearing in mind it's only in the last 20-30 yrs or so we've had the means to test for pregnancy before even a period has been missed. For the majority of our history, women haven't known if they have been pregnant for longer than 4-6 weeks after missing their first period, and guess what- pregnancies continued just fine.

I sometimes think that knowing so early causes more anxiety than it reassures. Obviously there situations where the woman has a medical condition or a history of early miscarriages, but for the vast majority of women sex in early pregnancy (or ant any stage) is not a problem.

I've never felt comfortable having sex at any point in pregnancy. It just feels wrong.

Sex all the way through is absolutely safe and fine.

Ivyonafence · 18/11/2022 06:01

It's safe. Do it as much as you can now, you might be hit with exhaustion soon and not want to.

I feel exactly the same, OP! I feel concerned it might bump things around up there when it's so early and implanting etc :( I'm totally rational about other things but this is just one thing I worry about! Am thinking we'll hold off for another week or two maybe...
