growth scans - dropped percentiles

hi i’m trying to work out my centile chart as i’m confused by the lack of worry from my midwife in all honesty. i had a growth scan today and in last few scans baby has been tracking along the same sort of line but today has dropped. to me these pinpoints look like she was tracking about 75th and is now about 15/20th? (i wrote the numbers on as i was getting confused by the lines haha). midwife just said oh yeah she’s dropped to just over 10th centile line but didn’t say much else? is this normal? any experiences please?

i see 2 measurements there, one tracked with an X, one with a dot.

the second X tracks the growth line of the previous one.

the second dot drops just slightly compared to previous dot.

there is no drop from 75th to 20th for the SAME measurement.

*third X, not second X

no they’re different measurements, the x is from my midwife’s bump measurement last week and the dot is from my growth scan today x

This is what I’ve said, they are different measurements. So where do you see a drop from 75 to 20 for the same measure?!

what reason did you have the growth scan? Didn’t you see a consultant after? For context I have small babies, I had growth scans and consultant apps every 2 weeks DD measured small and she dropped from 2-9th centile to 0.04 and I was given an induction date.

(Also ignore bump measurements, nowhere near accurate for centiles)

So your bump measurement (the X) hasn’t dropped at all.

And the growth scan (the dot) shows a drop from somewhere around 30 to somewhere around 20, heard to estimate, but not a significant drop, bc these scans can be inaccurate and this kind of drop is within their margin of error.

the thing to do is to continue to have these scans (I assume you have them for a risk) and see how the next one fares. If it continues to drop, they will discuss induction. Also know that you can choose a CS. If the scan was in error, it will go back to previous growth line of about 30, or it may show more, if the growth rate has accelerated.

There is no need to worry now, just have more scans, 2 weeks apart. I’ve had them as well, for IUGR risk.

There is no drop, the dots are your scans which show normal growth. The x is your fundal height measurement, you can't compare the two. They're measuring different things. Smile
