Bloody discharge 24 weeks

Hi,

24+4 and have been experiencing some slightly bloody discharge in the mornings and wondered if anyone else has experienced this and found out the cause?

It’s only a small amount, starting with a tiny bit of old blood last week and then stopped for a few days and then red tinged this morning and a little bit more.

I’ve tried contacting my midwife but not heard back and in my area they say to only contact the hospital after 28 weeks, so feel a bit lost as to what to do and don’t want to be a bother if it’s nothing.

I had an early 2nd trimester miscarriage in March and so feeling very anxious in general (first time getting this far), so not sure if I’m worrying for nothing.

Thanks for any advice!

oh I'm so sorry you have this worry after what you've been through. To be honest if you can't get through to your community midwife I would try the midwives at the hospital as bleeding needs to be seen. Worst case scenario, if you phone up they should at least be able to direct you on to the right place. I'd also advise getting in touch with your GP and seeing if they can refer you somewhere quickly.
Hope all is well.

Bloody discharge could be some of your mucus plug. TMI, but if you have had sex it could have caused a small bleed from the cervix ( it is more prone to bleeding due to hormonal changes in pregnancy) not harmful though.

There are many causes of bleeding, but given your history, definitely get in touch with your midwife.

Personally speaking, I have had bleeding in a couple of my pregnancies. Both were fine.

Thanks @ladycarlotta and @RainbowsMoonbeams, definitely going to call up tomorrow as unfortunately haven’t heard back from my midwife today. Tried the GP but they just told me best to contact midwife!

Trying to stay positive as does just seem to be in the morning and only a tiny amount, I just wish I knew what was triggering it! (TMI but definitely not sex in this case!).

Counting down the days to 28 weeks, when hopefully any potential issues may be dealt with a little more urgency (fingers crossed).

I'd ring MAU anyway tbh OP, most places would see someone at your gestation (except for reduced fetal movements).
It's probably nothing - I had some bloody discharge earlier in my pregnancy which was just cervical irritation, but it's always worth getting it checked

Given what stage you're at in your pregnancy I'd ring the hospital anyway! Here you ring there after 16 weeks so I'm quite surprised they've told you 28!

Hope everything is OK.
