TSH levels in pregnancy

I have some concerns around the management of my thyroid medication. My TSH has been slowly creeping up since the start of my pregnancy (I’m 8 weeks now) but my clinic haven’t suggested an increase to my levothyroxine dose yet. I’ve queried it twice to make sure it’s not a mistake and have also arranged a repeat test which I had yesterday. When I last tested it was 2.1 (having crept up from 1.2 pre pregnancy) so now it could be beyond 2.5. My understanding is that it’s best to keep it below that? Would love some input from others who have experienced this since I’ve had multiple losses so am naturally anxious to do all I can and this seems like something that can be easily controlled.

You should increase your thyroxine dose as soon as you're pregnant (by 25mcg I think...noy got guidelines to hand) and then have bloods done at certain intervals to keep your TSH low. There are guidelines and I can't remember the details but I know it's important enough to check. Our midwives are pretty good at letting the GPs know when a lady in thyroid replacement gets pregnant so we can act on it.

@MyEasterEggs I just took it into my own hands and increased my medication. But that was because I couldn't get a GP appt for love nor money for 4weeks and was beside myself with worry (had a MMC and after that realised I had a thyroid problem).

I did get a bit trigger happy and went from 3 to 0.64 in a few weeks! But now I've seen a midwife and she's put dditional blood tests in place etc, it's easier to manage. I think I having an extra 25mg every other day has worked ok for me, but I would just push to get regular bloody tests. Unfortunately no one really seemed to care GP wise to be honest.

I’m under a private IVF clinic and I’m surprised by their lack of care around this tbh. My GP has been better! I think I get my bloods back Monday but will add an extra 25mcg from tomorrow morning anyway @MO22. I was sure I increased it in my last pregnancy without even having to test so I think you’re right @Musicaltheatremum!
