Hi,
Im 6 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first pregnancy was difficult with severe morning sickness until week 20 or really affected me I’m so excited to be pregnant but have a massive fear of going through the same experiance on top of working full time/ studying and taking care of my 2 year old! I do have help from my husband and In law’s but I want to be there for my little girl as much as possible has anyone else been in a similar situation so far I have only had mild nausea so fingers crossed!

I had bad sickness with my first son but barely any at all with second son, made me wonder if I was having a girl it was so different.
The biggest difference between them was that I was taking high strength B12 and B6. I didn't get on well with multi vitamins during my first, kept bringing them back up, so I took the key vitamins separately with the second.

That's just my experience, I'm not qualified to give medical advice. But I got my vitamins from phoenix nutrition.

I know what you mean about the fear of not being up to scratch for your child. That was my biggest worry about having a second. Fortunately I didn't have that problem though.

@Scramble1805 What made you take b12 and b6 specifically? Sorry for asking but I'd take anything to make the sickness stop when it does come.

@Abbi95 honestly feel for you and every woman out there that struggles with extreme sickness during pregnancy. I had a termination last time but this time I'm trying to stay strong and prepared before the sickness hits.

sending all my luck to you that it’s not as hard! I took medication last time that seemed to take the edge of it but I was 10weeks before we found one that helped but it was still really hard!! I also had time off work but I’m not even ready to tell my new job about this just yet!

@heartbroken22 B6(P5P B6 specifically) through research online, lots of people say it helps, but the B12 was partly luck.
I read it was good for pregnant women but couldn't see any explanation why. I got some anyway and tried it from 6 weeks, my sickness wasn't quite at its peak at that point, and the nausea I did have disappeared.

I was still sceptical though, until I ran out of both at 10 weeks. 2 days of not taking it and the sickness hit me full on, suddenly being sick 2 or 3 times a day. Quickly ordered some more and was fine when I started talking it again, all the way though pregnancy.

I was so awful with DS but so far quite mild with this baby! Yes I was sick this morning but absolutely nothing compared to 4 stone weight loss and not being able to keep anything down

@Scramble1805 thank you so much. Did you take any big standard ones? I'm going to see if I can find the b6 in home bargains. How sick were you after the pills? Like did it stop?

Scramble1805 · 08/11/2022 04:30

The B6 helped turned the sickness to nausea but the B12 almost took it away completely. Don't think B12 is easy to get in a good strength on the high street, that's why I got mine online.

Pinkglittery · 08/11/2022 05:28

I totally agree with the vitamin B6 advice, I'm on my 5th pregnancy and had no sickness at all with the others. This one I was so incredibly queasy all day long, tried B6 and it stopped within a couple of days.

I managed better with my second pregnancy , wasn’t any less though. I would have loved a closer age gap and maybe another baby but pregnancy sickness / nausea and me nope :(

Doctors, medication planned - much more willing to take it the second time. I found it helped if I had something in my tummy - not easy - especially if your body decides to then not like it. I only ended up I hospital a couple of times where as the first pregnancy every 2/3 weeks.

Good luck!

Spoke to soon it’s here and it’s horrible managed to get a doctors appointment for next week will be requesting medication as it’s the only thing that made a dent last time

What does of b6 did you guys take? I ordered the 100mg last night and took it and feel sane. But I'm scared it maybe slightly too much?

@Abbi95 I hope you got help x

heartbroken22 · 21/11/2022 09:18

It's okay I've just read taking more than 100mg would cause temporary nerve damage so it should be fine.
