hi all
im new to this but yesterday I had a surprise positive pregnancy test, I’m 3 months after c section so it was a shock (I’ve been ebf) but I took the day to get used to the challenges and joy ahead. Today my period came/I have period-like bleeding and negative test.
ive just turned 39 years old and we want to have one more bb (I’ve had 3 babies in total) and have been so lucky to never experience loss or any difficulty conceiving (even my latest conceived at 38 first cycle) and have never had whatever this is before - positive test followed by period, is this common?
the timing wouldn’t have been ideal anyway and I’d now wait til baby is 6mo old, but just I suppose wondering if this is something that happens to people and they go on to have another baby at some point?
i should know these things but as I say I’ve been so lucky so far to have had no issues.

I actually had something very similar. I was also 3 months post c section and felt pretty unwell. I took a pregnancy test and got a very faint positive. A couple of days later I got my period and the tests were negative. I contacted my gp who said it was likely my hcg levels were still high after pregnancy and it was a false positive.

Are you using breastfeeding as contraception? Because that doesn't work and I'm surprised, given how much they discuss post c section recovery time and contraception before you can even leave hospital, then at midwife visits, if you didn't know that.

Was it your first section? It can be so dangerous to have another baby too early - please research before trying again.

Thank you! Glad to know it’s not uncommon.
