Hello,

I am 32 weeks pregnant. Does anyone know if this is a chest infection? Picked up a horrible sinus cold last week was horribly bunged up all week. I was coughing up yellow gunk but it went away. Since yesterday I have a painful chesty cough come on randomly and coughing up thick yellow stuff again and it hurts when I cough (not breathing). I can go about as normal but I'm worried it could be a chest infection ? Is this normal? I sleep through the night fine but as soon as I stand up it starts. Eases off in the day and have a bit of a dry cough. It's definitely coming from my chest as it hurts when I have to cough and causes a horrible kind of sound when I cough like I can hear it coming from there. It's strange as through the day and night time it seems to go away Sad I'm also allergic to penicillin so the only antibiotics I can take are nasty for baby!

Have you done a lateral flow test?
If the cough has only been bad since yesterday then sounds like you're OK for now, but you should try and see a pharmacist or GP if things are getting worse rather than better in a couple of days.

Hi. I am just recovering from a chest infection which started as a tickly cough for a few days. As it developed into a chest infection I was coughing so much day and night my stomach pain was the worst part. What I was coughing up was more green than yellow and my breathing wasn’t great and I was making lots of strange noises when I was breathing. I went to the GP after two days of this. I was exhausted, couldn’t do anything or get off the sofa. My body felt drained and achey even just showering was a massive effort. I was freezing cold but sweating lots. I’m not quite sure yours sounds like a chest injection. As suggested above I would see your GP in a few days if it doesn’t clear up to rule out injection. Also take a covid test.

Thanks ladies I have done a few covid tests last week all negative. My partner is ECV so always make sure I do one as soon as I have any signs of covid x

I also get what feels and sounds like air moving around in my lungs when I breathe in deep it's so strange. Lower down in my back. Really hope it's not anything nasty x

No that's not normal, I would phone your GP in the morning. It could be a chest infection. Below taken from the NHS website.

The main symptoms are:

a chesty cough – you may cough up green or yellow mucus
wheezing and shortness of breath
chest pain or discomfort
a high temperature
a head
acheaching muscles
tiredness
