Shower after c-section? How?

Hey guys, I have my ELCS next week and I’ve been thinking about every teeny tiny thing. I’ve heard they make you take a shower before you get discharged from the ward? How many hours after c-section? And how exactly do you shower after the operation? A proper shower or like a sponge bath? Sorry if this is a silly question!

I was told to get into the shower as soon as I could walk, and was told to take the dressing off! In hindsight that might be why I got a whacking infection that lasted the best part of 5 months.

Don't do anything you don't want to do and make sure you get some support pants to stop the dreaded c-section overhang.
