The beginning of a miscarriage?

Hi all,
I found out I was pregnant last week after years of infertility. I have been feeling okay: mild cramping, dry heaving, sore breasts. However, I have had quite a bit of discharge. I washed my bits today (stupidly) using a face wash instead of shower gel. Now I'm bleeding slightly, but my vagina and bum feel really sore and irritated. Have I caused a miscarriage, or is it an infection? I suffer with anxiety so am naturally fearing the worst. I've no cramps currently.

I'd be grateful for any support. Feeling numb.

I wouldn't be surprised if you compared the ingredients of face wash and shower gel and found they're probably not that different. Perhaps just use water to wash there for the time being.

I'm not a doctor but I can't see how this could cause a miscarriage. I had a miscarriage and cramping was the first sign for me.

Face wash never caused anyone to miscarry - so don't ever think it's your fault. I've had multiple miscarriages and the only symptoms were bleeding and cramps. If the bleeding gets worse, I'd be seeing the doctor. good luck .

Thank you, ladies. You'd think at 34 I'd realise that but brains are annoying. The bleeding has got heavier with clots so I'll see how I get on and ring the EPU later. Thanks for your support. X

Hi all- hoping for some advice… I had stopped my pill and fell pregnant immediately before my next period. Was very excited however as I had no symptoms, we had an early scan last week. Rather than being 8 weeks (as per my LMP) baby measuring 6*1 and no heartbeat. I’m devastated and was praying for a miracle at rescan tomorrow..however in last few days I’ve had quite a bit of brown or light pink discharge/blood- I did a few digital pregnancy tests and still say 3+weeks but guess this could be as I’ve not physically miscarried yet? I’m assuming worst and a missed miscarriage.

Just to update, bleeding continued although light. Today scan showed no growth in a week and no heartbeat…just in case anyone searching and comes across my post, wanted to update. I am 41 though and obviously this was just my outcome- positive thoughts to anyone else xx

Thanks for checking in. Sadly I had to visit a&e last Friday where it was confirmed that I had miscarried.

So sorry to you both.

I’m sorry for your loss bwfcchick. I had a similar experience a few years ago and still think of the baby, and what age it would have been, what she/he would have been doing.

look after yourself and give yourself time to grieve. Xxxx

Just to stress @bwfcchick88 - shower gel on your external genitala cannot and did not cause you to miscarry. The burning etc is just because the skin is more sensitive than usual down there during pregnancy and may require more plain products, but no harm can be done to an embryo that way.
