Hi everyone!

I'm new on this site and still trying to figure it all out so forgive me if I post in the wrong place.

I found out a couple of days ago that I am 5 weeks pregnant. I was actually trying to become pregnant via IVF (icsi) but to our surprise we conceived naturally! Whilst I am beyond happy to be pregnant - I am having a lot of period-type cramps - which has me terrified that this pregnancy may not last.

Could any of you lovely people give me some advice/stories on whether this is normal/happened to you and worked out OK?

I have my 6 week scan on the 19/10/22 so hopefully that will show a healthy little heartbeat ❤️

I appreciate any advice, thank you ❤️

Hey lovely, I am currently just over four weeks pregnant, and I am having quite bad cramps tonight, which are worrying me. However when pregnant with my DD I had such bad cramps I didn't even test as I was so so certain my period was coming! They went on from about 4-6 weeks on and off! And that pregnancy went smoothly!

Congratulations! Xxxx

I have had cramps since about 5 weeks on and off and currently 28 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy currently kicking away! I'd say they felt like mild period pains and were super consistent til about 14 weeks. They then came and went and after 20 weeks I've had braxton hicks which just feel like strong cramps.

Hope that gives you some comfort! Congrats xxxx

@hopingfor23 ah that's good news! I think we may of been on another thread together i lost the pregnancy at 12 weeks, but I'm sure we were in a January baby thread together? I'm now 4 weeks pregnant again so everything is freaking me out x

Hey OP, I had frequebt cramps early in my pregnancy. On one occasion they were so strong they woke me up in bed and I went and took ibuprofen because I was so convinced it was the start of something bad (having had an early loss in previous pregnancy a couple of months before).

Sitting here now with 4 week old baby girl, so it can be nothing 😊 If there is no bleeding I wouldn't be too concerned.

Cramps are completely normal in abdomen, cervix, uterus, and butthole too! Some more achey, some lighting strike. If you get pains entirely on one side and very strong you should contact EPU as this can be a symptom of ectopic. However, I had this under my left hip bone and it turned out to be gas 😳

Congratulations to you too!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of your pregnancy. It makes me feel a lot better to know that these cramps aren't necessarily a bad sign!

I'm sure your current cramps are just a repeat of the cramps you had on your DD pregnancy and nothing for you to worry about.

How nice that we both have little June babies to look forward to! ❤️

@hopingfor23 Congratulations on your healthy baby boy!!

Thank you for taking the time to put my nerves at ease! I'm so new to this so I don't know what's considered normal during pregnancy. It's great to have the support and advice from mums-to-be like you! I hope your BH aren't too bad!

I’m 12 weeks and had lots of cramps earlier on. I think they are quite common?

Congratulations!

@GlitteryGreen Your response just made my night! Soo happy to hear that you're sat with your beautiful baby girl and that your cramps turned out to be nothing to worry about! I hope I will be in your position soon ❤️

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Thats really good to know! I have had mild period type cramps and generally on both sides, so I'm hoping that's a positive sign that it's not ectopic.

Ah yes I remember - huge congrats and completely understandable!!! I lost two before this one and honestly I'm only just kind of relaxing into the pregnancy. It got a lot easier when I started feeling him move consistently so hang on in there 😘

Moosh18 · 15/10/2022 08:18

@hopingfor23 a little boy ❤️ how amazing!!! I often think about how far gone I would be now, however I had a loss before my DD and when she came it all made perfect sense to me, it was always meant to be her, so I'm really hoping this works out and I get to feel that again.

I'm so happy everything is going well for you! You are over halfway now! On the home stretch 😂 x
