Comparing scans - convinced I am having a girl - HELP

Just been for my 12 week scan today. I am convinced it’s a girl because it looks so different to my scan of my little boy (and because I’ve googled nub theory for 3 hours like a psycho). Anyone able to share their thoughts? My other fear is how much of a nightmare child I was and especially an awful teenager. It is slightly filling me with dread that I could be carrying a mini me and for some reason I feel like another boy would be easier…

I think pregnancy anxiety is getting to me 😫

Image of my (possible) girl below and I’ll post a photo of my boy in the comments.

Omg get over yourself
It's not like you're going to abort them because of their sex

If you really want to know check your babies heart rate. Girls heart rates are faster. Mine always had their legs crossed in scans!

Of course not, I’m just being a twat. Like I say, pregnancy anxiety.

Damn, I wish I’d know that before my scan! Helpful tip though for next time (if I dare do it a third time)

I think using skull theory it's a boy although the forehead is less round than your eldest it's still quite rounded, girls tend to be much flatter.

Doowop1919 · 11/10/2022 19:21

I'm 24 weeks and this little ones scan was SO different to my son's. The head was a different shape. So I was convinced it was a girl. It wasn't, we're having another little boy. They just have different shaped heads 🤣 I don't mind either way about sex, so it wasn't a secret preference of anything

Doowop1919 · 11/10/2022 19:21

Or anything *

elm26 · 11/10/2022 19:23

Honestly, I mean this in the nicest way possible but I'm 6 weeks pregnant after 12 miscarriages and absolutely petrified.

Soak up every bit of your healthy pregnancy x

Oh congratulations on your pregnancy and and I’m so sorry for your previous losses. That sounds unbelievably devastating to deal with and I’m not surprised you are terrified. I have everything crossed you have a healthy pregnancy this time around. Hearing these posts obviously do put in perspective that I’m being a bit lot of a knob and I should clarify that all I ultimately care about is having a healthy baby as we all do and the sex is not important. Good luck, I really hope everything works out x

@Dumbledormer I just wanted to give some perspective from another side OP, I didn't mean to come across as rude or anything like that and I'm aware gender disappointment is also very real when it's happening.

Thank you for your kind words and I hope you have continue to have a healthy pregnancy! come back and let us know when you know the sex! X

This isn't actually true or we'd all know what we were having. But I think it's more like a fun old wives tale, like dangling the ring on the chain over your belly to see what way it swings. Or chinese birth charts.

Mummyjlr120 · 12/10/2022 06:05

I think it’s a girl either way as long as it’s healthy congratulations 💕💙

allthingssparkly · 13/10/2022 09:41

I would say another boy @Dumbledormer I'm pregnant currently with baby number 3 and all my scan images looked different, I thought this time round it would be a little girly going off the skull theory but at my 16w5d gender scan all revealed I'm having another little boy 🤍

Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 13/10/2022 12:21

Unfortunately nub and skull and heart rate stuff just isn't reliable - otherwise they'd use it to check sex earlier! Sex isn't well differentiated until about 16+ weeks.

Like @elm26 I'd also gently stress that whilst I completely relate to anxiety, and I know that sex/gender concerns can be stressful, you will love this baby no matter which and it is lucky and wonderful that the 12 week scan was healthy
