Hi all so had a growth scan at 32+ 5 have had a few growth scans. The sonographer
noticed there was something wrong and there was what looks like a big pool of fluid in babies abdomen. I was referred to fetal medicine and will have a more detailed scan with the doctor then, I’m besides myself with worry. Has anybody else been through this? I was shocked as nothing had been picked up before apart from baby had a bit of a large abdomen at 28 weeks but they weren’t concerned about it. Thanks I’m advance x

Hi OP, I don't have any experience in this specifically but didn't want to leave you as I know how agonising the fetal medicine wait can be. We went through something similar last year (issues found with my son's brain at 27 weeks) and we were referred to fetal medicine also.
So although I cannot offer any advice on your specific condition, my advice would be try not to Google. This is soooo much easier said than done! When we were told about my son's brain I went straight to Google and didn't sleep until we were seen by fetal medicine. Just remember that these little babies are stronger and more resilient than we think. Anything that you're thinking of googling just write it down and ask when you get your fetal medicine appointment, that way you know you're getting the most accurate information for your baby and not some random baby on the internet. Sending you a huge hug and I really hope all goes well with your appointment 💖

Hi I had this at 30 weeks now 35. At the next scan it had gone sonographer said baby had probably just had a big gulp of fluid and it was taking a while to pass through.

Thankyou both for your messages. Have an appointment with my consultant today and fetal medicine tomorrow. How is your son now? Hope all is ok? It’s an agonising wait but we are so lucky we get to have these scans and also access to an amazing nhs. Hammertofall I really hope this is the case with us too. Thankyou both for taking the time to reply xxxx
