MRI during pregnancy - anyone had it?

My consultant has booked me an MRI for 34 weeks to check the position of some fibroids I have. I’ve known since 20 weeks I’ll need this - no problem.

However, due to the weight of baby, uterus and fibroids if I lay on my back I faint. This has happened at my 26 and 28 week growth scans.

The consultant has asked me to tell the radiographer I need a cushion to tilt my pelvis but also said it might not be enough or they might not be able to scan me if I’m not flat.

Has anyone had an MRI and faces a similar issue? Or has suggestions on what I could ask for or try? Usually these MRIs last 45 mins (I’ve been having them every 8weeks pre pregnancy)

If you are pregnant and having an mri you should be scanned on your side or obliquely . If the radiographers do not position you this way, insist on it and say you are concerned about IVC compression casing a vaso Cahalane reaction

Thanks, that’s really helpful. I couldn’t work out (and my consultant didn’t know!) how much it would be done as standard or I would have to fight for it!
