Anyone had a pool at home?

Well that's I really. I'm not sure I want a pool birth but definitely want to use it as pain relief for as long as I can. I'm not sure on home birth yet either as I no idea if I'll make it to term and if it's being offered in my area. HOWEVER, I would really like to use a pool this time as pain relief at some point (my tub is far too narrow and small and was so painful in my last labour).

Has anyone hired one before? If so how long did it take to fill and empty? Emptying is more my concern and whether the pump used to empty makes a lot of noise? If I did indeed have a normal labour I wouldn't want to disturb my DC1 in case he is sleeping. I'd also not want it taking ages to drain as my house is tiny and I'd want it gone and out the way as soon as possible.

Does it take long to deflate? I'm thinking of getting the smallest size possible.

We bought an inflatable one - it took up most of the living room. It wasn’t expensive. Also bought an underwater pump to drain it. I don’t remember it being an issue.

About 45 mins to fill, iirc (not that I was much involved in that!). And DH was impressed by how easy it was to empty with the pump supplied by the hire company. I'd definitely recommend hiring - even if it was a similar price to buy, it's great to have someone come to take it away when you're done with it.
