Early scan for those who ovulate later

I know you can book early scans from 6 weeks, but for those who ovulate around cycle day 19 or so, does anyone have any experience on when the earliest is they could get a scan and see something?

Might be overthinking it, but I'm assuming the 6 weeks is from cycle day 1 based on a 28 day cycle, so if you ovulate later you'd be about a week behind, so should you book an early scan for week 7?

As I say, may be overthinking this but I couldn't work it out ☺️

Week 6 even if typical cycle lengths might not see a heartbeat - that's an anxious stage to book a scan at. I'd recommend more like 7-8 weeks. So if you ovulate cd19, that's about 5 days later than the NHS dating estimates. So book for 7+5 and that should be about 7 weeks. If it's all working out you should see a little bean with a heartbeat

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl brilliant, thank you! I didn't know if I was just super overthinking it but was sure if implantation was about a week later than average then surely you'd be a week 'behind' for scans etc! Glad to know I wasn't going crazy 😁

Yes they typically set it as a standard ovulate day 14, for a 28 day cycle. I ovulated on day 24 this time, it was late and usually occurs on day 18-19.

@wanttoplayboardgames I am 6 days behind my LMP in my current pregnancy, ovulate later but not sure when exactly - at the 12 week scan nobody gave it a second thought but at an early one it would have been an issue obviously and would have given me loads of anxiety. Even with more standard cycles ladies would generally suggest not to go before week 8 earliest - think it’s a good advice x
