Hi everyone, has anyone else had a BFP recently? Would be great to share our journeys together. This will be my first baby, after nearly 2 years of infertility I’m very excited to have graduated onto the pregnancy board.
The online calculator is saying I’ll be due on the 21st May 2023. Still can’t quite believe it I’ve been testing everyday since to check it’s real 😂.

Looking forward to hearing from others. X

@AlwaysTryingToHelp Welcome and congratulations! It’s good you’ve got your midwife appointment already, I bet that’s making it feel a bit more real. I’m waiting for mine to come through. I’ve got an early scan on the 4th October, hoping it will be a weight off after it too.

I thought I’d be so excited once I finally got my BFP and of course I am but I’ve never worried like this in my life either.

Hi everyone! I'm so excited I can finally join a pregnancy thread!

I got a BFP yesterday after just over a year of trying. My Natural Cycles app puts me due on 1st June. Can't wait for a little summer baby.

I have filled in an online form for a midwife appointment so now I just have to wait for a letter with an appointment. How many people are going for an early private scan? I'm thinking of booking one purely for ease of mind

Hannargh · 23/09/2022 14:50

Hi - would it be ok if I joined too? I got my undeniable bfp last Friday (and some faint lines before then) and have just been holding off joining a group until now. AF was due last Wednesday, and I think I'm 5+2 now. All being well, I should be due around 24th May 2023.
It's exciting to see a small group with some similar due dates 😊

I've not been pregnant before, so am feeling a little unsure about what happens next. I'm going to contact my GP/midwife after 6 weeks just to spread things out.
I don't really have any/many symptoms yet, which is making me feel a little anxious, although I imagine I'll wish I was more grateful for it in another month's time!

How's everybody else doing? xx

Teacaketotty · 23/09/2022 15:16

Hi @Hannargh congrats!

I'm 5+2 also, and no symptoms yet. This will be my 3rd pregnancy, 1 ending in MC, and I haven't had symptoms until weeks 6/7 with the other two so I'm sure they aren't far away!

I am going to contact the MW at 6 weeks also, like to try and space things out too - this first trimester is such a drag I feel like. I'm in two minds about booking an early scan privately for some reassurance - and to break the time up!

Hannargh · 23/09/2022 15:36

Thanks @Teacaketotty - and you too! Sorry to hear about your MC - I hope you're feeling ok about this pregnancy?

I'm glad to hear someone else is the same - it's a little more reassuring. And if they do kick in, I'm sure I'll know!

Has anyone told people other than their partners? I'm seeing my parents next weekend (when I'd be over 6 weeks) and would love to let them know as it's their first grandchild. But I'm a bit worried about jumping the gun. I don't think we'd book in for an early scan anyway, and the next time I see them might be 3 weeks later or so. I know it all depends on the person, but would love to know what people are doing this time/have done before?

MariaMc1 · 23/09/2022 16:39

@Hannargh we’ve decided not to tell anyone until 12 weeks but I think it’s really just personal preference and how you feel about it.
I’m quite enjoying it being just me and DH that know for now.

Hey! I got my positive this morning 😊 due 24th May! Hoping to join a FB group, there is one on the other thread so just waiting for the new link!

Any recent BFP’s?
purplemama1990 · 25/09/2022 20:19

@Hannargh I'm 5+1 today and have already told my family! I struggle to keep it a secret and to be honest, if anything did happen then I would want them to know and to have their support. I'll wait until after 12 week scan to tell anyone outside of family though.

lk2812 · 27/09/2022 12:39

How are we all ladies??
I'm now 6+4 and this happened overnight!! Anyone else showing yet? This is DC2 so have read it's normal to show earlier after a first pregnancy but goodness me I didn't expect this yet!
How's is everyone's sickness etc? I've got horrendous sickness and the heartburn is next level!🤢

Any recent BFP’s?
AlwaysTryingToHelp · 27/09/2022 15:17

Hope everyone is okay!

I am now 6+3, we have decided to tell just our family at 8 weeks, by that point we will have had our first midwife appointment and our private scan. We will then wait to tell everyone else at 12 weeks.

I am feeling sick in the morning, nothing to bad at the moment and I am not being sick, just that feeling in my throat which usually stays for a few hours! I am also finding I feel very tired at the moment, once I finish work at 5pm I have no energy to do anything else all evening!

If anyone gets the link to the Facebook group please could you share it with me, I would love to join xx

Hannargh · 27/09/2022 17:07

Thanks @MariaMc1 and @purplemama1990 - I'm seeing my parents again at the weekend so may share the news then (but no further) as I'd like them to know, but also to be in the know if things didn't go to plan.

I'm coming up to 6 weeks now. Feeling good - not really nauseous, but have had very tender boobs from the start. Hoping the nausea stays away - thinking of everyone suffering with it! I'm away for work this week and have been taking strategic car naps between workshops - can't tell whether I'm pregnancy tired or just work tired 🙃

MariaMc1 · 29/09/2022 11:36

How is everyone getting on?
I had some bleeding yesterday so my clinic brought me straight in for a scan, luckily everything is fine and we saw the heartbeat which was amazing.
The sickness has ramped up a bit, I feel like I’m constantly snacking as it gets worse when I’m hungry.
Has anyone got the date for their first midwives appointment yet?

@Hannargh Ah that’s lovely, I bet they’ll be thrilled☺️

HoneyPea · 29/09/2022 11:53

@MariaMc1 So glad you got to see a heartbeat. Did they say what the bleeding was from?
I was so sick at this point when I was pregnant with my DS that o couldn't keep anything down but at the moment I'm just starving all the time.

I think we are going to tell our families after our hospital early scan and tests. Gave birth to our little girl (who was very poorly) at 18weeks in Feb so consultant has said she wants me to have an early scan and NIPT test.

purplemama1990 · 30/09/2022 14:29

@MariaMc1 I'm so glad to hear the baby is doing well and you go tto hear the heartbeat! So reassuring I'm sure!

@HoneyPea sorry to hear about your little girl, and hopefully the scan and tests all go well xx

I've definitely been getting more sick this week, but not as bad as last time thankfully! Last time I was so sick by this point and wasn't eating very much. I find snacking constantly or eating meals very slowly or sipping on juice / herbal teas throughout the day seems to be helping a lot. But eating is definitely helping.

I'm exhausted too, been getting into bed at 8pm every night after putting the little one to bed. Not necessarily falling asleep right now, but asleep around 9:30 every night and sleeping through to 6:30 the next day...

Got my booking in appointment booked for 21st October, I'll be almost 9 weeks then.

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 06/10/2022 15:37

Hey Everyone, hope we are all okay!

I have just been for my first midwife appointment, it defiantly made things seems a little more real now and with our scan booked for Saturday things are certainly moving quickly this week.

The midwife was really lovely, the appointment was about a hour and 20 minutes (I didn't expect to be this long at all), she took my blood and a urine test. She also went through both DH and my family medical history and asked lots of questions and gave me some really useful information about how the whole process works. DH came with me which was great as we were give so much information in one go hopefully one of use can remember it.

I was really nervous before I went it but it was nothing to worry about at all :) xx

purplemama1990 · 11/10/2022 16:24

@AlwaysTryingToHelp glad your appointment went well! Booking appointment does take a lot longer than you imagine, they ask a million different questions!

And that's great that your partner was allowed in with you... mine wasn't allowed in for my booking appointment last time, I assumed it was because they are required to ask you about domestic abuse etc.

My sickness and exhaustion have got so much worse this week, spent pretty much the whole weekend in bed while my husband took care of our toddler. Appetite is pretty much gone now too and everything tastes awful. I've been having a 30 min nap in my car at lunchtime every day while at work... can't wait for first trimester to be over!!
