Hello,

i am 26 weeks pregnant and in my last pregnancy 2 years ago developed a varicose vein in my left inner thigh. It starts just above the knee but on the inner leg and goes all the way up to my pelvis with 5 large lumps. It disappeared after last pregnancy but has re appeared now.

Every night I wake up in pain from it and it hurts for about 15 minutes when first walking on it. Does anyone know if this is normal or needs to be checked? I never had this pain last time apart from if I was walking on it all day. It’s when it is rested it seems worse in the mornings.

posted in health section too

Hi I'm on my 2nd pregnancy and have a similar problem with varicose veins appearing in one of my legs, I never had this with my first pregnancy. Mine hurt later on in the day, but ok at night. I have literally just bought some of pebbles compression tights for pregnancy to see if they help at all, as was recommended this by a friend. They should be turning up any day now, I will let you know how I get on with them. (I would certainly get yours checked out by your doctor).

Just get the GP to check it out. Not much you can do. Some times they do get a thrombus (clot) in the vein and it's very painful, but it's not dangerous. You can get compression tights to help with the discomfort Once you've finished having children it can be removed.
