7w3d, all day nausea, vomiting on and off throughout the day and getting up in the night to vomit as well. I’m totally miserable and need somewhere to vent. Does anyone want to join me? ☹️

OttilieKnackered · 31/08/2022 12:13

@Wouldloveanother yes, that’s the second drug I tried. Did nothing for me. Saw my GP in person this morning. The good news is that I’m signed off work for two weeks. The bad news is that she refused to try me on ondansetron as apparently it’s not safe in the first trimester. But I KNOW some others have been prescribed it. She also said most of the anti emetics are designed to stop vomiting, rather than actual nausea.

Guess I’ll just feel shit for the next month or more then 😞

handslikebirds · 31/08/2022 12:32

@OttilieKnackered that makes sense about the sickness rather than nausea, I've found cyclizine more effective when I'm on the verge of throwing up than when I've been feeling sicky. Glad you are signed off, I found being signed off so much better not to have to deal with the stress of work or screens which made it worse.

Weirdly I read on another site that someone's sickness was better with a banana. I've just had one and suddenly feel a lot better. Enjoying the 5 mins it'll last before I digest it but was surprised it did anything at all. It's the only home remedy that's worked for me, ginger, mint, sickness bands etc all useless!

laurenfeelingsick · 31/08/2022 14:20

@handslikebirds
I've been signed off for 6 weeks now. Just cannot face work.
Everyday I wake up wondering if today's gona be the day I feel better...and then the tidal wave of nausea hits me

Wouldloveanother · 31/08/2022 18:21

Hi ladies.

today has been slightly better. I’ve had very nauseas moments - but they probably totalled only a few hours of the day, rather than all of it. I was sick first thing this morning but it left me feeling pretty good afterwards for maybe 2 hours. And I just managed my first ‘proper’ meal in over a week.

how are you all this evening? Ottilie I’m sorry your GP sounds less than clued up! Can you speak to a midwife instead who might’ve heard of it?

Hey all, just jumping on here as been struggling with nausea since 6 weeks (8 weeks now) and yesterday I spewed a few times which was horrible, couldn't keep anything down in the afternoon/ evening, so think the sickness might be coming now. This morning and today I actually felt ok for a lot of it which is weird considering how awful I felt yesterday! Have any of you found this too, that you might feel ok after a particularly bad day? It hasn't left me completely but I was able to eat a good lunch and also haven't spewed yet today. But I expect it to ramp up again... Ergh it's gross isn't it.
Hope you're all doing ok. I have some anti sicknesses bands from my DDs pregnancy but no idea where they are! Need to dig them out.
Has anyone tried acupuncture?
X

Hi all, I'm nearly 12 weeks and been struggling with sickness and nausea since 7 weeks. This is my second pregnancy, it's definitely worse this time round! I'm a teacher so have had a pretty rubbish summer holidays although haven't had to worry about being off sick etc. I'm due back tomorrow and don't think I'm going to be able to manage. Those of you that are signed off by doctors - did you request a sick note? Our GP surgery says they only issue after self certifying for 28 days! I feel so guilty taking time off, especially in September. I'm on some medication from the GP which is stopping me be sick but the constant nausea and dry heaving almost feels worse - there's no relief! GP did say it was likely to ease at 14-18 weeks so I'm keeping my eyes on the prize and counting down the days...

laurenfeelingsick · 31/08/2022 19:53

@tweetypi I self certed for 7 days then my employer required a sick line. I'd seen my GP several times re the issue so she give me a sick line no problem and has renewed it for me when I've requested. I've felt guilty at times too, knowing I'm leaving colleagues with a massive workload etc but at the end of the day me and my baby come first, I've spent today miserable and just threw up my dinner and my mental health is suffering enough without adding the stresses of work. I just couldn't do it. You come first, your baby comes first. Work will always be there when u return. And it's better ur fully fit.

Wouldloveanother · 01/09/2022 16:22

Hi ladies. By some miracle, I’ve had a relatively normal day - was sick once this morning, but have felt pretty normal since. Nowhere near as sick/ill as the past 10 days. Going to step away from the thread unless it comes back, I just wanted to give you a bit of hope ♥️ I hope you all get some respite soon, even if I keep improving I will never forget how bad the last couple of weeks have been!

I’ve just found out I’m 4+3 but it was like a switch with me I am constantly feeling extremely sick, spots galore. Constantly tired. I thought my mind was playing tricks. I’m hoping it doesn’t get any worse I lost a stone in 3 weeks with my daughter almost got hospitalised due to it. Hoping the feeling passes you soon and you can start to enjoy your pregnancy ❤️🤞

laurenfeelingsick · 01/09/2022 19:59

@Wouldloveanother glad to hear you've had a good day! I'm also the same, no nausea today at all! First time since my nausea started at 6 weeks. I'm not getting ahead of myself but hoping this is the start of it settling for now. 14 weeks on Saturday and really hoping I'm coming out the other end of it

OttilieKnackered · 01/09/2022 22:26

That gives me hope @Wouldloveanother. no respite here yet but here’s hoping.

My latest medication has unfortunately caused an upset stomach so the little I am eating is going straight through me. 6 pounds lost so far. 😞

Rinatinabina · 01/09/2022 22:34

It’s been a few years but I still remember how bad it was, try to get meds prescribed. I had hypermesis and pretty much nothing worked for me.Onda didn’t touch my nausea but reduced vomiting significantly. I found mint oil on a tissue helped to block out some smell triggers. It’s awful you all have my sympathy.

I actually can’t believe there is so little work done in this area given how much suffering it causes tbh.

tweetypi · 02/09/2022 14:19

@OttilieKnackered sorry to hear your meds aren't working - what have you tried? I was prescribed some antihistamine based ones early on and they used to just knock me out - great for not feeling sick while I was asleep but made it impossible to look after DD! Ive just started on Xonvea (4th med I've tried!), keeping my fingers crossed it makes a difference.
Yesterday was a rough day for me, I needed to spend most of it in bed with the curtains drawn and no noise, felt sensitive to everything. Today has been better, I'm on the sofa watching tv and am ok so long as I don't try to do anything.
@laurenfeelingsick thank you- I've self certified this week and have requested a sick note from my gp today. They're probably a bit sick of hearing from me now!

Wouldloveanother · 07/09/2022 14:05

Well, it’s back. The ill feeling has lifted but the vomiting/nausea is relentless. Been diagnosed as HG, signed off for another 2 weeks. How are you all doing?

OP posts:
allfurcoatnoknickers · 07/09/2022 14:45

Joining, because I just got my BFP for baby #2 and the crippling nausea started again. Had to run to the loo and hurl this morning when DH opened the bin 😫. Also the food aversions are intense. All I want is coffee, flavored water and toast.

I had HG with DS for my entire pregnancy and it was wretched, so really praying it doesn't turn out the same way this time.

roarfeckingroarr · 07/09/2022 14:51

Early pregnancy is the worst because of nausea and tiredness but not wanting to tell anyone. Struggling through a day at work was a struggle!

I'm now 19+4 and still nauseous if I don't eat regularly, which is bloody unfair after breezing through my first pregnancy.

Wouldloveanother · 07/09/2022 15:05

@allfurcoatnoknickers welcome to this unlucky thread! Are you able to start on some meds now?

@roarfeckingroarr ive been forced to tell everyone, just because there’s no hiding it - been signed off work and can’t do any of my normal activities. MIL has had to pitch in a lot with DD and our dog, plus it’s my birthday soon and there was lots of talk about going out for a meal with friends etc. I figured if something goes wrong, I wouldn’t be embarrassed to say, so may as well be honest. How awful you’ve had this for so long ☹️ you’re halfway there though, so nearly over the hump! Or should that be bump 😂

@Wouldloveanother Waiting for the doctor to call me back to prescribe the good stuff. Also, I have VERY irregular cycles, so I'm trying to get a scan to confirm how far along I am. I think 6 weeks, but could be 4. Not that it really matters, but I'd quite like to know...

I'm so fucked off, I just want a nice pregnancy and some glowing, is that too much to ask?

Skylark1990 · 07/09/2022 17:04

@Wouldloveanother sorry to hear it's back - have you got meds or are you not taking those?
I feel awful most of the day, mornings seem to offer a brief respite from full on nausea but it's always in the background. Come afternoon/ evening it's ten times worse and I've been sick multiple times the last few days. It's so grim! I would like to be signed off work but my manager soldiered through and says she kept working even with HG with her pregnancies and it makes me feel awkward. No idea how she did it tbh!?

laurenfeelingsick · 07/09/2022 17:49

@Wouldloveanother
I feel ur pain. Mines back also. Sick multiple times today and the nausea is constant. 14+4 and I feel like there's no end in sight. Asked my GP to prescribe me Xonvea and they wouldn't. Say i need to constant the assesment unit to get that presribed? All the other anti-emetics dont work for me or cause me side effects. At the end of my tether at this stage. I've cried most of the day. Just want a somewhat normal existence back

I know what you mean. Why do other women get glowing skin and shiny hair and we get this?? It does feel unfair!

@OttilieKnackered how are you? Been thinking of you, and hoping you’re okay.

@Skylark1990 I was prescribed meds but warned they’ll stop me vomiting but the not the nausea. I don’t want it that way round! Vomiting is my only relief from the nausea, I actually dont
mind it. How are you holding up this weekend?

Ive never drank so much cola in my life 😣

OP posts:
OttilieKnackered · 11/09/2022 19:34

@Wouldloveanother hello - thank you for thinking of me. That’s really touching. Nausea has definitely improved. I probably only feel sick for a few hours a day rather than all day every day.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing some really stressful stuff around housing (due to sell/buy soon but issues have appeared which may block this or cost us loads of money and/or a fight with other leaseholders) so pregnancy nausea has been partially replaced by gnawing anxiety and fear. 😞

If we manage to move successfully and have a healthy baby I promise I will never complain about anything again.

Wouldloveanother · 11/09/2022 19:36

@OttilieKnackered thats fantastic about the nausea! Are you managing more food, fluids etc? Sorry about your house move, I know what that’s like - had the sale from hell in 2021. Take it one day at a time, all that matters is your health!

OP posts:
OttilieKnackered · 11/09/2022 19:40

@Wouldloveanother yes. I’m still not really able to make food (DP is chef/servant) and don’t really fancy anything but pretty good at eating simple/beige food.

The issue is our flat has sprung a serious leak/some water damage so we have to hope it is easily/cheaply fixable and that it doesn’t mess our sale up. This pregnancy has made me realise I am terrible at coping with stress. Poor DP is having to do everything and hold me up emotionally.

Wouldloveanother · 11/09/2022 19:47

Same with DH - he’s working, looking after DD, walking to dog twice a day, washing up, doing 85% of the housework. And waiting on me hand and foot! I even got flowers the other day 🥺 I know he’s stressed but I think he knows I’ve still got the shitty end of the stick.

How far along are you now?
