Hospital bag snacks

Hi all!

On the lists I’ve seen for hospital bags, taking snacks is recommended. I’m having an elective section so more for afterwards / during night feeds etc.

Is there anything you would recommend taking please? I’m concerned about things melting if it’s as hot as it was last week on the assessment ward (although not due until September so will hopefully be cooler)

thanks :)

I didn’t fancy much in labour but afterwards was hungry and very thirsty. The hospital provided water and ice but the lucozade sports drinks went down very well. I had some flapjack, cereal bars and some dried fruit. All stuff that keeps well, isn’t tempered sensitive and wouldn’t make too much mess.

I took some packets of Uncle Ben's microwavable white rice as I was anticipating having a bit of a dodgy stomach after having to fast for the section and white rice is usually good for an upset tummy! Went down like a treat as soon as we got onto the ward at about 11pm (had been stuck in recovery for hours because there wasn't a bed for me)...

The kitchen on postnatal ward will likely have a microwave so anything like that of you think you might have issues with hospital food are a good idea. Obviously depends what food outlets your other half can access nearby - we're lucky, our hospital has an M&S simply food and a Costa!
