Advice on 12 weeks prior to scan

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice.
I'm 12 weeks pregnant with my first child and have my scan next week. I'm showing no real symptoms of pregnancy other than slightly sore boobs and strong sense of smell (which is unusual for me). I had some nausea and food aversion earlier on but no morning sickness etc.

We tried for 2 years to fall pregnant and I'm terrified this isn't going to turn out well, with my lack of symptoms.
All the apps etc describe the symptoms most people have and I'm not having any of those really.

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy with very few symptoms or can offer words of support?

Thanks in advance
xx

Congratulations!! I now have an 11 week old and during my pregnancy the only sympton I had was I went off certain foods. If I wasn't getting bigger I wouldn't have known I was pregnant due to the lack of symptoms! Everyone has different pregnancies! X

Thanks so much for your reply. I don’t really have a bump yet either but I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed all is well.
I think I’m just anxious!

I had to take a pregnancy test on the morning of my 1st scan because I didn't believe I was pregnant! I thought I was going to go to my scan and be told there's no baby. Like you, I didn't have any symptoms. My dd is now 18.
Congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you all the best with the scan next week

Hi OP I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant and have had no major symptoms so far (I had some cramping in the first few days when my period was due and get some very occasionally now). Some ladies are blessed not to have any symptoms throughout their pregnancy but I know how you feel, it can be very worrying. Whenever I speak to the midwife though generally as long as you’re not in any pain or have any bleeding the likelihood is that all is fine. Every woman and every pregnancy is different, I need to remind myself of that too! ☺️

RainbowsMoonbeams · 12/08/2022 14:08

24 weeks now and had no symptoms, other than a missed period this time around.

Good luck with your scan. I know it can be nerve wracking waiting for the scan, but remember the odds are more in the camp of all will be fine than not.

gonewithtthewind · 12/08/2022 14:23

I've had no symptoms, if I have it's been very few and very minimal! Everyone is different, and every pregnancy is different. All of my sisters have been the same and have had none! I get the worry because I was exactly the same, everything is fine though and I'm 13 weeks 3 days today 😊 I don't think symptoms are an indication of anything. Xxx

MothersRuin267 · 12/08/2022 17:20

I’m 36+4 and still don’t have any symptoms other than an enormous belly with clearly something living inside! Until he started kicking at around 20 weeks I would’ve had no idea I was pregnant if it werent for the test

Sparkles29 · 12/08/2022 17:24

I had no symptoms either with my 3, and like you I was convinced there would be nothing there at the 1st scan, but all were there, spinning around! You'll be fine and amazed i'm sure-good luck!!

BuffaloCauliflower · 12/08/2022 17:32

My last pregnancy I had almost no symptoms, sore boobs for about 3 days, felt a bit hungover for a couple of weeks and then didn’t want to eat anything for a week. That was it at the start. From about 7 weeks I was constantly googling things like ‘no symptoms and baby ok?’ Baby was absolutely fine. We see so many media depictions of throwing up and weird aversions/cravings but it’s really not like that for a lot of us. I’m sure everything will be fine 🙂

On the other hand this pregnancy I’ve felt shit (though still no sickness) and I wish I’d appreciated my last pregnancy more at the time!

scotbex · 13/08/2022 11:22

@popperoo Haha I’ve done that a few times as I’ve woken up and not believed it! 😂 thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your response. That’s very comforting. I’ve not had any bleeding or symptoms to say things aren’t fine so I’ve my fingers crossed!

@gonewithtthewind thanks for your reply. I suppose people talk about the bad pregnancies or those with lots of symptoms and no one really speak about the ones with little to no symptoms. I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed that alls okay!

@BuffaloCauliflower (love your name) I think you’re so right. We see and hear about those having a rough time, and not much about those with little/no issues. I’m sorry you’re feeling rubbish this time around. I hope you feel better soon!

@RainbowsMoonbeams thanks for your kind words. You’re right, and I’m more relaxed today after reading all these lovely words of comfort.

I have 3 children. I didn't have any typical symptoms with any of them. A missed period was it for the first few months. Good luck

scotbex · 13/08/2022 12:48

Thanks @trevthecat thats much appreciated

Congratulations!

I'm sure all will be fine!

A lack of symptoms doesn't indicate a problem with a pregnancy. Having tons of symptoms doesn't indicate that a pregnancy is healthy or progressing either.

ThatsNotMyMuffin · 13/08/2022 14:22

I'm 11 weeks and exactly the same. Ive had some cramping, sore boobs and tiredness but the last 3 weeks or so I feel completely normal. So much that I forget in pregnant! It's so hard not to stress. My two other pregnancies were very similar and they were both born healthy.

scotbex · 17/08/2022 09:58

Hello, just thought I'd let everyone know we went for the 12 week scan yesterday and everything is looking great. Thanks for your support. ❤

Ahh lovely!!

Loulou1712 · 17/08/2022 15:12

Yay! Congratulations OP!

It must be odd having no symptoms, and I can imagine it's stressful. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and knew before each positive test I was pregnant due to the nausea so I'm very jealous 😂 x

scotbex · 17/08/2022 16:33

@Loulou1712 Thank you so much. Yes it's rather odd especially since this is my first. I expected all the symptoms lol.
