Ear Infection or Teeth Infections

Hello,

I just found out I'm pregnant and now of course, even though I haven't confirmed with doctor yet and I'm quite possibly jumping many guns lol. My teeth are really bad and I'm scared of infections and my ears always have infections and they're super itchy recently and I'm just so scared...Has anyone experienced any of that and baby was ok? I know I need to make an appt and talk to them but I'm just so nervous and excited and kind of going coo coo as this is my rainbow baby.

I appreciate any insight :)

Firstly, congratulations.

What is it you're so scared about infection wise? You may want to ask your dentist for a prescription for toothpaste.

Also, make sure you're on top of your oral hygiene and regular mouth washes/gargles if you're prone to infection.

Most links to antibiotics in pregnancy state they can harm their adult teeth.

@PinkButtercups Thank you so much! And well...I can never catch a break to put it dramatically lol! I just had a root tip extraction and the teeth behind that is causing me pain. But I also have a hole in my molar :) and it has to be pulled...And I do have medical mouth wash but I'm nervous to use it without asking a doctor first which I def will.

And my ear is soooo itchy and horrible. I was given MULTIPLE topical ointments to put in both of them a few months ago. It subsided after a while. Now it's back full force and then low and behold, today I'm like hmm let me take a test to see if I'm ALSO pregnant. And I am. Wayyy better than an infection! Lol. But I'm just so worried.

I need to just stop thinking so much and take it one day at a time but...I've had 3 miscarriages and this is my 4th pregnancy. I just want to do everything right! As right as I can, anyway.

Most antibiotics are deemed 'safe' in pregnancy.

The only thing you can't have done is numbing for your dental treatment. Well you could but it's not advised.

Hopefully your pain will settle down.

Which bit are you worried about? Infection harming baby? Antibiotics harming baby? In reality the likelihood of either of those things happening is very very small. If your unwell or have signs of an infections see a GP/dentist straight away, they'll talk you through pregnancy safe options so you can make an informed decision.
I can't imagine how difficult it is after your previous losses but try not to overthink everything, it'll be a very long 9months, and then to be honest you'll worry about the baby afterwards. I'd mention these concerns to your midwife, maybe a referral to perinatal mental health would help to talk through your concerns etc
You've got this mama! x

Thank you ladies for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate all of you.
I will talk to a dr as soon as I can.
I'm going to call my OBGYN today. Then maybe an endocrinologist(?) and then ... a dentist? Lol. So overwhelming...
Thanks for your kind words Smile

I have an impacted wisdom tooth that I need surgery on. It flared up constantly whilst I was pregnant with my little boy. I had pregnancy safe antibiotics and painkillers. Baby is absolutely fine! I have just got an appointment to see the surgeon and I am pregnant again! I guess I’ll just have to wait until baby is here to get the surgery
