Hi Lulumama,
This isn't an acual birth question but I'm a bit worried and can't get in to see my midwife until Wednesday so thought you'd be the best person to ask. I'm 24 weeks pregnant.

The past few days my knickers keep suddenly being soaking wet. It's not discharge or anything like that, it's just loads of water. i change them about 3 times a day. It also smells weird.

Also, I was making the bed and I had a sudden really sharp bump pain. It cramped and it felt awful. So I rested and it went. The next day i was walking along and got what i thought was a stitch but it was so bad in the bottom of my bump I couldn't even walk anymore. The next time I tried to walk I got the same awful cramp in another pain. It finally moved to my left side and got worse and worse. Even paracetamol wouldn't touch it. I spoke to my midwife who sort of laughed and said everyone gets pains like these. however, it's got worse and worse and feels like the whole of one side is bruised and I've got what feels like the worst period pain ever. It's constant. Especially if I move at all or try to lift anything. Even light things. My bumps really tender to the touch. Sometimes it goes really hard and crampy too.

Overall, I'm worried about the pains and I'm worried about the water thingy. Do you know if I'm worrying unnecessarily? Or what it coluld be?

Anyone have any advice?

I don't think she was nastily laughing, I think it was her way of sort of trying to put me at ease- just laughing it off as she sees it every day sort of thing (though it worried me a little more because I thought she wasn't getting how much pain i'd been in because it had made me cry and I couldn't breathe very well because it hurt so much, or stand up straight). But I hadn't mentioned the waters then because it wasn't quite as bad that day, and I was too busy worrying myself sick about the pain.

The pains just felt so weird, not like the stretching pains I've had, and they started from making the bed which worried me as I don't know if I'd just been over doing it (2 jobs, plus nightschool). Also, today I lifted a heavy bag and it all started again, so i need to stop lifting things. They said there's a possibility it's ruptured the membranes but they'll be able to tell on Monday at the scan, and they said it might not be that at all. They reckon I might have a water infection too, and if it's bits of wee seeping out I'll be so embarrassed

Can't thank everyone enough as I just wouldn't have gone to hospital yesterday if I'd not posted here, and the hospital said I did the right thing going in.

Mumbles, we all wee ourselves when pg without even realising, so even if it is don't be embarassed, in fact, hope that it is wee, it means there is less to worry about!!

And to be honest two jobs and night school and house work does sound like bit much! I got some SPD and had to ask DH to carry everything for me. You get used to it I found it hard, being very independent despite 9 years of marriage. If it hurts everytime you lift something your body is telling you something!!

Mumbles, may be a urine infection as that can cause quite bad tummy pains. Lets hope it is that and you can be sorted with antibiotics..
