4+3 and spotting (IVF pregnancy) - help

Hi all,

As the subject suggests, I'm 4+3 following IVF and I've just started spotting.

In terms of consistency, it's a mix of:

• Light brown fluid
• Dark brown stringy
• Dark brown specks

I've been cramping on and off since transfer so nothing different going on. However I have been having some light shooting pains in my lower abdo this afternoon too.

I must've spoken to about 25 people who have said it happened to them and everything was fine. But I just spoke to a doctor at my IVF clinic and she said that "it may be a sign it's just not meant to be", which has sent me spiraling.

Anyone have any positive stories? Our scan is 6+2 weeks, so a while to wait yet.

I should add that I had one streak of red-ish blood this afternoon, but the rest is brown.

It could go either way unfortunately and too early to tell. I’ve had one pregnancy where that happened and everything was fine, and one where it happened and I had a miscarriage.

Have you had a hcg blood test from your clinic and know what your numbers were?
It's difficult to say as I know plenty of women who went on to have healthy pregnancies but unfortunately for me it was never a good sign x

No my clinic don't do them unfortunately. 😞 I have about 13 days until our first scan and I just don't know how I'm going to cope.

Are you on Progesterone (cyclogest) suppositories? I was on them from the day of egg collection till week 12, started having spotting from week 8 till week 16 (the spotting looked like when my period is about to start) had 3 scans done in that period and baby was fine. First scan showed a very small haematoma. I was referred to a consultant who said it’s a normal side effect of cyclogest.

I’m currently sitting here holding my 9 week old baby.

Can your community midwife refer you for a scan?

I've been pregnant from IVF 6 times. Booked everytime. 3 miscarriages, 2 live births and waiting on the arrival of DC3. It could go either way but try not to panic until it's bright red, heavy and accompanied by cramps.
