Infection early pregnancy

hello! I have recently had swabs taken and have found an infection which requires antibiotics. I’m 5-6 weeks pregnant and allergic to penicillin so they have prescribed me clarithromycin. The doctor told me over the phone it was safe, however after reading up online it does say it has a high risk in causing miscarriage. I have had 3 previous miscarriages and don’t know what is best to do! I’m so scared as don’t want the infection to cause any harm but I’m so scared to take the antibiotics. I know I should trust the doctor - if anyone has taken this or had a similar experience would love to hear. Thanks :)

I found out I was pregnant whilst on these and a midwife told me to stop taking them. My infection had pretty much gone anyway so didn't start anything else. I miscarried that pregnancy but I have had 3 miscarriages altogether so I don't think that was the reason. I think it was coincidence. I would call your local EPU and run it by them to double check
