Hi all,

Looking for some advice or shared experience really.

Currently 10 weeks pregnant with DC2 (my DC1 is 11 months old) but I genuinely look how I did when I was 5/6 months pregnant with my first.

I still had a flabby mum tum when we conceived but it seemed after only a few weeks of finding out I was pregnant, my stomach grew.
I assumed it was bloat as it’s under my ribs and I am SO uncomfortable, but as the weeks go on I’m wondering if … this is it. Bit sad as I was excited to watch my bump grow gradually but I’m already having to hide it as a lot of people don’t know :(

Did this happen to anyone else?

I started another thread on this earlier today. I'm 7+1 with baby number 3 and I look 5 months pregnant. Impossible to hide it.

With baby number 2 I had the same thing at 9 weeks pregnant. Everyone online seems to say it's just 'bloat' but my 9 week bump never went down- just kept getting bigger!

bumpquestion · 17/07/2022 14:38

My pregnancies were also very close together like yours. I think it makes a massive difference.

I’m 9 weeks and seeing similar things. With my first my stomach didn’t change at all until I was 17 weeks, when a tiny hard bump suddenly appeared at the bottom. I don’t have a bump now but I feel like my stomach muscles, which are pretty strong, have just gone to flab and ‘relaxed’, ready for a bump to pop a guess.

10 weeks today with number 2 and feeling the same. Absolutely huge! I don’t think I can hide it so I’m just going to have to hide at home or let everyone guess!

I had a big tummy at 9-10 weeks which turned out to be mainly bloating. It went down after a bit and then I started getting a proper bump from 20 weeks onwards.

I had this with my second. It's where your abdominal muscles haven't repaired after being stretched the first time. There are postnatal physio exercises you can do after this baby is born to pull everything back together.

I'm 16+1 with twins and I look about 8 months pregnant. They're DC2&3.

Almost 14 weeks with number two (although number one is almost 9!) and been bursting out of my clothes since about 10 weeks, I finally gave up this weekend and bought some maternity bits. Even my stretchiest clothes are struggling now (wearing cycling shorts as we speak and had to roll them down as they were strangling me!)

I had the uncomfortable bloat between about 9-11 weeks, it’s less uncomfortable now but never really gone down.

I didn’t get a bump til after 20 weeks last time.

At 11 weeks with #3 I was pretty obviously pregnant. I did try hide it at the very large 3rd bday for my eldest but many guessed.

In fact, a few people had noticed at even 6 weeks that I had a bump. Ds2 was not 1 yet and I had no desire to share the fact that #3 was baking.

ChagSameachDoreen · 17/07/2022 15:35

I've just looked back through my weekly bump pics with DD, and the 31 week photo is how I look now at 13 weeks with DC2 Shock

SNAFU247 · 17/07/2022 17:20

I had a 4yr gap between pregnancies but my second I showed immediately. By about 8wks I had such a round tummy - I was also so so so bloated the second time but instead of deflating a bit it just turned into solid bump!

ToadstoolFairy · 18/07/2022 09:39

Wow. All the replies make me feel like this is fairly common?

I haven’t told family, friends or work yet (going back from maternity leave imminently … awkward) so hiding it is proving to be near on impossible!

Does anything think their bumps will ‘go down’ or dya reckon we’re just going to get bigger and bigger?

@ToadstoolFairy I started a very similar thread to this last week!

DS1 is 2.5 years and I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant with DC2. I currently look how I did at around 18 weeks with my first. I'm struggling to keep it hidden at this point! At first, it was very obvious bloating. But at this point I just know it's now more than that!

RagingWoke · 18/07/2022 09:53

I had this with dc2, I think it was mainly bloating early on but it just seamlessly transitioned to a bump so I looked 5/6 months pregnant from about 8 weeks.

I didn't tell work until 20 weeks but I think everyone had guessed by then so it wasn't a surprise. I was at a work event at about 32 weeks and everyone that asked when I was due was shocked when I said I still had 2 months to go. By 38 weeks when he was born I was huge, couldn't drive because my bump was so big I needed the seat right back to fit but my arms didn't reach the wheel or feet the peddles. Turned out I had too much amniotic fluid as well as a 9lb baby.
