2nd pregnancy anxiety - geriatric

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone may or may have been in the same situation as me. I’m 36, 15 weeks pregnant with my second and already have a 3 yo DD.

I received a call yesterday saying my baby has a 1 in 5 chance of being Down syndrome so I just had an NIPT test to know for certain. The results will be with us in 7 days (which is a relief because I’ve seen many mums say it was a lot longer for them)

This has opened the floodgates on my anxiety. My first pregnancy was very smooth and uncomplicated and my daughter is really healthy. I’m starting to panic that there is going to be something wrong with this one. For example, on my bloodwork I scored 5.09 MoM For inhibin - A which is REALLY high. The consultant told me not to pay too much attention to the specifics on blood but I can’t get it out of my mind. Google has terrified me talking about high inhibin correlating a low birth weight and pre-eclampsia.

I haven’t enjoyed anything about this pregnancy. I don’t know whether it’s because my daughter keeps me too busy but I haven’t really been thinking about it until I’ve needed to (midwife appointments and scans where I’ve suddenly gone into panic mode convinced they’re going to tell me bad news)

I’m so upset and really at this stage would just rather I wasn’t pregnant. My husband is very rational and just says “let’s wait for the results” - I’m so neurotic.

Can anyone relate? ❤️
