Olaplex in Pregnancy

Hi all

Hoping for some advice as I'm in a wee bit of a panic. I'm 13+1 and had my hair dyed today. I spoke with my colourist about the pregnancy and agreed how we'd proceed with colour. As part of the process however, she used Olaplex 1&2. I normally get this at the salon (I have unruly) hair so it didn't cross my mind until I left that it might not be ok. Has anyone used olaplex in pregnancy and know if it's ok for use? I'm in a bit of a panic and would gratefully appreciate any advice.

I should think it's fine. It's only on your hair.

I’ve used olaplex whilst pregnant and didn’t even think about it being an issue :)

There was a bit of a controversy about one of its ingredients not being proven safe, which is a different thing to it being proven unsafe obviously, but they've stopped including it now.

Oh thank you all for your reassurance - it's my first baby and I'm super nervous to do things right ☺️

Also pregnant with my first and didn’t think about it. It doesn’t go in to your blood stream so I can’t see how it could impact the baby unless I’m missing something!

No answers but on the same theme, did you purposely wait to be out of the first 12 weeks to get your hair coloured? I am only 7 weeks but I'd love mine done at some point, but don't know what's the 'rules' are? Xx

I did wait, but primarily because I've been too sick to go any earlier! That and getting my hair done 10 weeks ago was one one the first things that made me think I was pregnant, as the colour took slightly differently (nothing radical but enough!). Waiting meant I was comfortable to tell my colourist about the pregnancy and it meant she could keep an eye on the colour and how it was developing. I've been getting highlights for years and did have a good read about the safety etc before going. Xx

Does anyone know if bleach highlights would be ok? I regularly use olaplex shampoo and conditioner but i think the controversy was regarding the number 3 hair perfector... don't think it's been proven though!

I used it all through my pregnancy then my sister mentioned the other day that it’s been linked to infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t realise this and was totally fine, I think it’s maybe more before you get pregnant that it can have a negative affect. You’ll be fine!

i have used olaplex 0 and 3 and 7 i still got pregnant and all is well so far 😁😁
