Worried about gestational diabetes test

So bit of a trivial thread haha but I have only had a small breakfast today and I feel faint.......so it leads me to wondering how awful I am gonna feel during the gestational diabetes test next week when I can't eat or drink before or until 11am!

Can anyone reassure me that it's not that bad? (And can you drink water? The letter they sent me said sips but that sounds like not a lot atall!)

I feel the same but I throw up if I havent eaten within an hour of me waking up. 🤷‍♀️

It’s not ideal, but will be ok. You can drink water. Take some snacks to eat straight after!

Tap water only, not bottled water. The waiting around is tiresome so bring a good book with you.

@Cakecakecheese good idea! The hospitals usually boiling hot so I will remember to wear light clothes as well!

@Eek3under3 glad you can drink! Would be pretty awful otherwise. Thank you :)

@Cookiedough123 oh no! I am past the throwing up stage thankfully but still have something in my stomach first thing to make sure I am not nauseous so it will be a challenge. Good luck for yours!

I was told I could have sips of water beforehand but nothing at all after drinking the glucose drink until the 2 hours were up since drinking water will lower the readings. I second bringing something to do while waiting since you are meant to sit down and not even move about. Not the most pleasant experience but you'll get through it. Bring a not too sweet snack with you to eat straight after the last blood test and/or have someone at home ready to make you food straight away (or easy to prepare food) in case you feel a bit crappy afterwards. I felt a bit faint straight afterwards but fine after eating a good lunch. Lucky my test started at 8am so wasn't too late. Good luck!
