37+4 and noticed that baby has been much more active than usual the past few days, I’ve also started to experience braxton hicks. Is the change in movement due to labour nearing or should I go and get checked out? Has anybody else had this?

Please get checked out. Its drummed into women that we should get checked for reduced movements when in fact any marked change in movements should be checked. A noticeable increase in movements could possibly indicate that the baby is distressed. Hope everything is okay but go and get some advice just to put your mind at rest if nothing else.

Please, please get checked. A friend had a bad experience after extra movement. She had no idea that baby was stressed.

Any change always get checked. Do not be robbed off until you’ve been monitored.

Absolutely get checked.
I had a home birth with my son and he was frantically moving nonstop and thrashing about whilst I was in labour. The midwife confirmed his heart rate was elevated and it was clear he was in distress. Luckily he came really quickly after the alarm was raised but in the meantime an ambulance was called to rush me in. He arrived before the paramedics and was fine once out but it was clear that everyone was panicked for a reason.
Please call your midwife today.

Update: went in for monitoring, her heart rate fluctuated between 120 bpm and 165 bpm, nothing out of the ordinary and I was sent home!

So glad you went in to get checked out - you did absolutely the right thing and I'm glad things seems to be okay.

Good news that all is OK.
It's just possible she might be plotting her escape 😉
