15 weeks pregnant after recurrent miscarriage

Hi all, as the subject says, we are 15 weeks pregnant, 3 scans so far all show a healthy dancing baby.
i felt thrilled until Sunday morning & after breakfast my stomach felt odd - a bit crampy and gassy, I went to the bathroom but still felt strange. I think my panic from the cramps exhausted me. I had it later that evening with diarrhoea. Since then Monday I was fine, Tuesday after strong cramps and a mad dash to the bathroom and again this morning, cramps and diarrhoea.
I’m fine with all of this if the baby is okay. I’m a complete mess with worry that somethings wrong and that’s why I have diarrhoea. I’m petrified of a private scan (previous mc experience) but I will have one if this doesn’t seem normal. So I guess I’m dramatically looking for any fellow pregnant mums who have any advice for me? Thank you xxxx

I can completely understand your worry but to me it sounds more of a gastro issue. Your digestion can be really affected by pregnancy as well as you being more susceptible to bugs.

Flederjo · 23/06/2022 07:59

Sounds more like an intestinal issue.

Your digestion can be all over the place in pregnancy. Constipation and/or diarrhoea can be common and not usually anything do to do with the health of the baby! I'm sure that's all it is, but can totally understand your anxiety based on past experiences.

I'm in the same boat, 13 weeks pregnant after 4 earlier miscarriages - and panicking too as I've had a lot of cramping and twinges right from the start, sometimes quite sudden and painful ones.

Perfectly healthy scan last week.

It sounds digestive, at risk of TMI I feel better after going to the loo. When I get the sharper pains I've been having a 30 minute lie down and feeling better afterwards, so I think those are just my body telling me to slow down a bit and everything stretching/growing.

No advice really but you're not alone and I think it's quite normal 🙂I've so far managed to avoid any panicky extra private scans because I don't suppose it will change the outcome either way!

Wow! Thank you so much. This little community is amazing. I feel so much better just having a few of you say it’s probably totally normal. Thank you. The crazy world of pregnancy after recurrent miscarriage is awful but so thankful for this support network. X

Glad you feel better @Emily090 . I know it's so hard not to panic at every little thing after miscarriages - I don't think I'll fully relax until baby is in my arms. Then it's only the next 18 years and beyond to worry about! 😁

@TwoBulletsFiveZombies Thank you. I definitely do, and actually felt like my normal pregnant self today - stress can really affect your mind.
how are you doing? Also part of the Recurrent miscarriage club - are you feeling good pregnancy wise? X

@Emily090 feeling similar to you, varying between confident that everything is going well and that I'm clearly still pregnant - and blind panic. Sometimes within the same hour. Quite crampy too on and off which is the worst thing. I've not had much sickness - have you?

We've started telling people now, most of our families know and some friends. I told work earlier in the week and we're telling my stepdaughters later as long as they turn up in a happy mood. All this is filling me with dread though as the worst thing would be for something to go wrong at this stage and go back round all these people and tell them 😕everyone's so happy for us (my mum broke down in tears) and it would be devastating if it didn't work out.

@TwoBulletsFiveZombies We are completely feeling the same, people congratulate me and I’m frightened to be excited so just say ‘I’ve had a few miscarriages so we are quite nervous’
I almost cracked this morning a booked a private scan, managed to think rationally and not go ahead with it. It’s half desperation to hear / see the baby and the other half of me is so nervous something is wrong and just have no idea.
No sickness thankfully, just bad belly and tiredness hits around 3pm - great timing for school run. I had a nap today which helped actually.
its very exciting but I guess we just can’t help but feel worried after so much heartache. ❤️
have you got your midwife appointment soon? X

I’m 22 weeks and have had stomach pains and cramps the whole time! I’ve had two bleeds but both times, no pain. I try not to worry about the pains but it is hard. I’m going through ‘growing pains’ at the moment, sometimes they are really painful I’ve had quite a few ‘reassurance’ scans but what I will say is now the baby is moving, I feel so much more reassured and don’t feel the same compulsion to get a scan when I start to feel anxiety.

Sometimes I get a cramp and then my baby moves, so I know all is well! A moving baby is a happy baby. Not long for you now til you feel movement but and hopefully you will gain the same sense of peace 🦋

@DangerouslyBored Thank you for your message. This pregnancy journey is interesting isn’t it. Glad everything is okay with you, especially after a bleed, that must have been very scary. I keep trying to feel any movements, I’m sure I’ve had a few flutters but can’t wait (fingers crossed) for proper movements. Midwife appointment is on Wednesday nervous but hopeful. Thank you again for your nice message x
