I am being induced and terrified

Hi all. Has anyone else been induced due to reduced fetal movements and having a previously small baby?

I'm 37+5 with #2. I'm already in slow labour (2cm dilated) but have had repeated instances of reduced movement since 28 weeks (five in total including two in the past week). I've also had a previous SGA baby and at my last growth scan baby's growth had also started to slow. He's always been quite happy on the monitors but due to the above factors consultant thinks the best thing is to induce me.

I am terrified 😭 You always hear horror stories of people being induced!

I wasn’t induced for the reasons that you are being induced but I was induced for reduced movements and gestational diabetes at 38+1. I had a positive induction, like anything there is always more negative published than positive because people need an outlet.

I had the pessary in at 4pm, nothing happened overnight. I went for a walk at 10am, contractions started just before 11am. I had the pessary removed at 1pm and I was told I wasn’t dilated yet and my cervix was still back. My waters went at 2pm. When I got to delivery at 5pm I was 8cm and I was 10cm by 9pm. I slept for an hour in between contractions then pushed for 40 mins. I had gas and air and no interventions, it was less than 12 hours from my first contraction to baby being born.

Good luck on the induction and just because it feels slow, doesn’t mean it necessarily is. Hopefully you have a positive induction and have your baby soon.
