C-Section on Monday- Nervous! Any positive experiences?

Hello,

I'm booked for a C-Section on Monday due to baby being breech.

This is my 2nd Child. The 1st was a straight forward VB.

I'm very nervous about the C-Section (particularly the spinal block). They were initially going to use a GA (due to some problems with bleeding in the past) however they've since reconsidered and I much prefer the idea of a Spinal block even if I am very nervous!

Just looking for anyone with any positive experiences to share/advice?

TIA

I’ve had 3 elective c sections; absolutely amazing experiences and I’ve loved all of them. So calm, straight forward stress free births. I’ve always recovered well (even with 2nd and 3rd with toddlers) and have no desire for a vaginal birth at all.
you’ll be absolutely fine!

One EMCS and one ELCS. Recovered well from both - up walking and using the loo as soon as they'd take the catheter out. Second one I left hospital 25hrs after delivery, and several hours of those were spent waiting for meds before I could go.

My first was breech and I had an elective. You'll be fine - it's much more relaxed than an emergency section and you get to see your baby pretty quickly! Just take it easy and use the recovery time to rest up and bond with your baby. I was back to walking half a mile or so after about a week.

Spinal block is a bit sore going in but nothing major.

Mine went so well I had an elective CS with my second too :)

Only had one but my experience was very positive - even though it was considered an emergency it wasn't really - just wasn't planned
Recovered v quickly too.
Worse thing was when my scar became itchy as it healed which was hardly an issue.

ELCS is probably the most stress free way to give birth. You can plan and prepare as you know when you're going in. None of it hurts, they will numb the area before the spinal. It's done and dusted within 45 minutes and if all goes smoothly you'll get to keep baby with you and start feeding/skin on skin right away. Recovery can be tough as you'd expect but mine were both straightforward and I was up and about as soon as the catheter was out. Keep on top of your pain relief and you'll be fine. And have big pants at the ready!
