20 week scan - fluid on babies chest

Hi - ive just had my 20 week scan where they found a small amount of fluid on the babies chest - everything else looks normal.

I have to go to another hospital on Monday for a more detailed scan and am so upset as I'm thinking if worst case scenarios.

has this happened to anyone else?

I have not experienced this myself but I just wanted to say that it’s positive that this has been picked up on the scan and that they will be doing further investigation. I know what an anxious time pregnancy is and I really hope that everything is ok x

I'm 38 weeks pregnant. At my 20 week scan they found fluid around her heart measuring 2.5mm - they referred to fetal medicines for a few days later and it had gone up to 3.6mm so they referred me to Great Ormond Street... was seen after the longest week of my life.

They did find the fluid but they said as the fluid was nowhere else, and wasn't huge they weren't to concerned as the structure of her heart otherwise was normal.

This meant nothing to me I was still concerned and really struggled emotionally throughout my pregnancy.

34 week scan - still there

At my 36 week scan - it had completely disappeared ! It just rectified itself ! They said it's common for it to disappear as quickly as it appears.

Hi! It went absolutely fine - the more detailed scan I had at the feral assessment unit couldn't find any fluid anywhere so they said it was an issue with the ultrasound waves in the machine for the first scan so all normal but the worry was overwhelming!
