6 Week scan worry - dradycardia measuring small

amummyy · 23/05/2022 11:59

Looking for any success stories for dradycardia diagnosed at an early scan.

Firstly, I suspect I am 1 weeks behind as I got a positive test at 21 dpo and tests were negative before.

At the 6 weeks scan I measured as 5 weeks instead of 6 and was told the heart wasn't beating strong enough. The follow up scan in 1 week

Has anyone had the heart rate pick up after the 1 week follow up? Also, has anyone measured 1 week behind and been fine?

I guess there are no success stories or positive outcomes ☹️

I'm sorry you are going through this ☹️

I don't have experience with this myself but a friend of mine did & her baby did end up fine. The midwives told her at the time it could seem low due to measuring a week behind, it could just be low temporarily and increase or stay low & increase chances of mc so there are many possibilities

Everyone who has experienced it will have different outcomes, different reasons for it happening etc so I don't think it will help seeing peoples outcomes, if they are bad you will worry more and you don't need the extra stress ❤️

I really hope your next scan goes well, I know how worrying it can be as I had different complications on one of my scans and the wait for the next scan is so hard (everything was fine luckily) so try to relax as much as possible and talk to someone about it friend/partner/family to ensure you have the support you need if it doesn't go well ❤️

@Stade197 thank you so much for reading x

I'm so happy things worked out for your friend and so nice to hear of a positive story. It's nice to see just this one and I think it's enough for me to feel more confident as I really do think I have a late implanter.

Just hearing of your positive outcome although different, it's nice to know your follow up worked out well x

I have just told my mum I'm pregnant a few minutes and she has already given recommendations of her friends who are midwives to have a chat with.

Keeping my fingers crossed 💛

Dates aren't always 100% right this early on so you could be measuring wrong

I was measured wrong at my first scan, I knew I was 7 weeks but they measured as 6 weeks but on what should have been my 12 week scan by their dates I was measuring 13 weeks so my first scan was wrong

dreamyunicorn · 23/05/2022 19:20

7 days out isn't massive at this early stage, what stands out to me is the fact there IS a heartbeat (which usually doesn't show until 6 weeks).

Look after yourself and keep busy.

I don’t have a positive story to share but it sounds like you are in a good place - the scan seems to be in agreement with when you got your BFP. It’s good they saw the heartbeat - it might have only just started as they start off slower then speed up as the weeks go by.
I’m in a sort of similar position - went for an early scan yesterday at 8+3 according to LMP but measured behind at 6+5. Everything present and correct with a heartbeat (they didn’t measure the rate but the sonographer described it as “racing”, which was nice). Like you my BFP was relatively late (only got a v faint positive on cycle day 30) so I’m hoping it’s just down to late ovulation/implantation coupled with the inaccuracy of the early scan.
All the reading I’ve done online has been a mixture of outcomes and it’s been a bit stressful so I’m going to try to stop thinking about it until my 12 week scan! But this article I found was the most reassuring: www.madeformums.com/pregnancy/wrong-due-date-from-pregnancy-scan/

amummyy · 24/05/2022 10:26

@Stade197 hopefully I'm in a similar situation! I compared the notes to my last pregnancy where I had an early scan and the measurements really seem to match up to what
Would've been normal for 5 weeks.

Thank you for the reassurance x

@dreamyunicorn I'm really trying to focus on the fact that there was actually a heart beat and I did get a chase to see the really tiny flutters.
I'm keeping calm and these messages are keeping me sane x

Fingers crossed for us! Sounds really positive for you.

I was doing some reading online too and I think that was making me feel worst. Was really trying to find someone in the same position as us with the late BFP.

I hope everything goes will with the rest of your pregnancy.

When I went for the early scan I was worried I wasn't feeling much symptoms anymore but today and last night I've been feeling terrible (nauseous) and I'm loving it 🙃😕 haha... hopefully the hormones are picking up!

It's bradycardia. Not trying to nit-pick here, OP, just in case you were googling or anything.

Raindrops2015 · 24/05/2022 12:17

If tested pos at 21 dpo when they would expect that at 14dpo then 1 week off sounds about right. The LMP way of measuring won't be right for most women. Heartbeat starts at around 80bpm and gets increasingly faster so they may be measuring a slow heart beat for 6 weeks when the heart beat could be entirely normal for 5 weeks. They consider anything under 100bpm to be slow FOR 6 WEEKS and your dates are suggesting you're only 5 weeks. You usually can't even find a heart beat that early. It sounds hopeful. Why did you go for an early scan?

amummyy · 24/05/2022 13:39

It's a typo.......

I'm thinking so too, well I hope I'm just a little behind and the heart beat only just started.

I went for an early scan of peace of mind as I had a stillbirth test year, also I was having some cramps which they were able to find the source of.

Thank you for your message, hoping we're all right here xx

Hi @amummyy just wondering how you’re getting on?
I’ve booked another scan for tomorrow because the wait for the 12 week scan is driving me mad. Must admit I’m dreading it a bit.

@pangolin84 the follow up scan was fine, growth had caught up and the heart beat was strong xx

Nausea right now is out of this world so I'm using that as a sign of things being okay
